Shot and killed outside the police station? That's weird. Killed serving an arrest warrant, killed during a routine traffic stop... yeah that happens. This perp was waiting to ambush him. The article says that it was his first day as a police officer, but he was also a full-time county Drug Taskforce Agent. Sounds like somebody was harboring a grudge.

Shot 2 officers with his pistol, and delayed them getting any medical attention by initiating a shootout. Allowing unhinged idiots like Elrod and the guy in the op to have access to firearms is dumb. Switzerland has more guns per capita than the US and their last public shooting was like 2001. We had 2 school shootings posted on ish alone in the past week in a half or so and no one gives a shit, because we're all already so numb to the idea of public shootings in America.
