Agree with everything except the bolded part. City dwellers might give up their guns, but guns are way too important in rural america - both culturally and for practical reasons, and most of those folks wont give up their guns unless someone is going to come pry them out of their cold fingers. Disarming rural america would be a monumental task, and I dont think US law enforcement or military is really capable or willing to take on a task like that.

If our rulers want to take rural folks guns, its probably gonna require an army of robots or some other kind of high tech solution.
