the roc marciano is ok. pretty cool he did the beats too. very chill album. content is pretty dumb overall. gangster bullshit

wu tang 36 chambers gets my nod for production and lyrics combined. it has the best beats. dirty and original. later rza is cleaner. lyrics were fun and wild on 36 as well.

later wu is just the same as 36 but evolved. 36 set the mark.

nothing wrong with gangster shit. Plus the bars are out of this world, schemes are some of the nastiest in hip hop history.

I feel like Ironman or Only Built 4 Cuban Linx had the best beats, even Liquid Swords.

fair enough. all classics. i give the nod to 36 for being the original piece.

i enjoyed marcianos album.

if youre talking gangster shit, when you compare marcberg to something from rick ross, ross is just on another level of bullshit.

anyways, ive outgrown that type of content. never really liked it much anyways.

Do you prefer the original or the remastered version?

The remastered version sounds too clean, not as hard. Think you could make a copy of the cassette tape and send it over bud?

Makaveli is just on a whole different level than other rap albums. I know its not popular opinion. When you get to white manz world and hold ya head those songs are just incredible

Some of my favorites were Illmatic and Black On Both Sides. I favor New York boom bap over other subgenres of hip-hop.

Of course hip hop's pen is great, although it's quite profane, and the social movement is somewhat interesting, but I don't consider it great music at all since it is sorely lacking in melody and harmony.

Bone Thugs were pioneers in the "wtf are these people saying" movement.

I'd honestly put illmatic in the top 500 albums, but it's the only hip-hop album that'd make the list.

I believe its an incredible genre. Especially in the 90s.

I agree. No other genre explored sampling and texture in the same way and so deliberately. Even rock bands that borrowed from it like Portishead benefitted.

also love the 90s boom bap era the best. It's up there with 60's garage for me.

you’re one of those rockist hipsters? would’ve thought they had died out in the 2000s but guess not
