View Full Version : When did Lebron carry "bums" in the playoffs
3ba11

In 2005, Gilbert Arenas and Larry Hughes made the 2nd Round, but then Lebron stole Hughes to beat Arenas in 2006.
Accordingly, Lebron almost always had better casts than his Eastern opponents.. He infact failed to carry lottery casts (teams that were lottery the prior year) to low seeds in 04', 05', or 19', and therefore only had high seeds in the playoffs (good casts relative to conference).
So he never carried "bums" or low seeds in the playoffs like MJ or other stars did - Lebron infact got 3 years to develop his team into a favored high seed before entering the 06' Playoffs, while MJ was thrown into the playoffs in Year 1 and forced to carry 8 seeds..

The Cavs were the preseason favorites in 2015 and 2016 because they were the only team with 3 perennial all-stars (super-team), or 3 elite 1st options (big 3).
To summarize - Dray wasn't an all-star in 2015 and Klay was a 1st-timer, so only the Cavs had 3 perennial all-stars (super-team) and therefore favored.
So Lebron had more perennial all-star teammates despite Kyrie/Love being injured all-stars in 2016, which means ONLY JORDAN won Finals against opponents that had more all-star players - the 93' Suns and 96' Sonics had 3 all-stars to the Bulls' 2... :confusedshrug:

Who were the All-Stars in 2016?
And Love didnt make the all star team in both 2015 and 2016 aka he was just a 8ppg role player in the Finals

Pippen didn't make the all-star team in 1991 or 1998 but I didn't include those years because I'm an honest person - so I understood that Pippen was injured in 1998..
However, the 93' Suns and 96' Sonics had 3 all-stars, so they simply had more all-star players, while Lebron never beat a Finals team that had more all-star players.

LeBron beat a 4 all-star team in 2015 when he was the only All-star
That was the biggest All-Star talent differential upset in NBA History
The 1 All-Star Cavs beat the 4 All-Star Hawks in 2015
The 1 All-Star Cavs beat the 3 All-Star Warriors in 2016
Lebron simply won greater upsets than Jordan ever did :pimp:

For Lebron to win his first playoff series, he stole his opponents' sidekick - Arenas and Hughes made the 2nd Round in 2005, and then Lebron took Hughes away and beat Arenas in 06'
^^ Lebron teaming up with Hughes is confirmed proof that he had better casts than his Eastern opponents in addition to having high seeds every year.
Lebron never had low seeds because he failed to carry lottery teams (teams that were lottery the prior year) to low seeds in 04', 05', and 19'.. So while MJ, Kobe and others were forced to to carry "bums" and their worst teams in the playoffs, Lebron avoided the playoffs with his bad teams and only made the playoffs with favored high seeds that had his opponent's best teammates on his team.

Why are we just limiting it to Finals?
In that case, LeBron has 3 Finals wins without HCA (2012, 2016, 2020), which is more than Jordan :pimp:
Meaning LeBron simply won more as a underdog (ie. facing a talent deficit)

Agree on all counts... and also Lebron is a bum himself, so that means Love and JR Smith carried him in 2018, and he was also carried by the Hughes+Ilgauskas star duo

It isn't that JR and Love carried Lebron - it's that Jimmy Butler, Kawhi, Dwight, Iverson, Kidd and maybe even Kawhi won the trash East with less help - the 2018 Celtics weren't a good team - tons of guys have monster stats while beating bum teams:
2018 Celtics.... 55 wins... #7 SRS.. 1 all-star.. 3.6 net rating
1989 Cavs........ 57 wins.. #1 SRS.. 3 all-star.. 7.7 net rating
1989 Knicks..... 52 wins.. #8 SRS.. 2 all-star.. 3.7 net rating
It was pre-title Jordan and his rookie low seed that beat the 89' Cavs, whereas Lebron was a veteran champion with a veteran champion sidekick and team when he beat the 18' Celtics..
Btw, Love averaged 20/10 in the 2nd Round against the #2 SRS Raptors and the same against the Warriors, so Lebron never beat a top 5 SRS team with poor scoring and efficiency from a sidekick (no carry-jobs against good teams in 2 decades of playing).
Lebron can't have carry-jobs against good teams because he can't win with high scoring - his high scoring is too ball-dominant (09' ECF) or too inefficient at the extra jumpshooting volume (15' Finals).. Since he can't have carry-jobs against good teams or win with high scoring, he needs elite 1st options to play sidekick... aka he needs equal-scoring partners that can match or exceed his playoff scoring (11', 16', 20' Playoffs) and can't win with true 2nd options that average far less like Pippen.. Lebron simply lacks elite jumpshooting skill and can rarely "pop off".. he isn't that kind of player, so he needs big 3's and never won without super-teams as the clear-cut top producer.

Iverson, Dwight, Kidd, Kawhi, and Butler won the conference with 1-star teams so Lebron gets exactly zero props for winning it with the best 2nd option in the conference and future HOF Love.
Love averaged 20/10 against every top 5 SRS opponent in those playoffs - that's far more help than MJ ever had - MJ was forced to beat top 5 SRS teams with nothing from Pippen - see the 89' 1st Round or 96' Finals, among many others (98' Finals, 98' ECF, 97' ECF).

Exactly - he needs to team up with stars to make the playoffs because he stole a 22/5/5 all-defender away from Arenas to make the 06' Playoffs!!... He literally confiscated his opponent's sidekick to beat them
So it's the same thing - he's been making the playoffs by teaming up since his rookie year

The Cavs had a good 2-star, veteran champion team in 2018 that featured HOF's Lebron/Love, so Dirk and Chauncey faced bigger talent deficits in 11' or 04', while Jordan faced a bigger talent deficit in the 89' 1st Round (#10 SRS vs #1)...
Heck, the 93' Suns had an extra all-star/all-defender (Majerle), so they had the same edge that the 17' Warriors had (an extra defender in Draymond).
Ultimately, Lebron always had the same or more all-star teammates as his opponents when he won Finals, while Jordan won 2 Finals with less all-star teammates because the 93' Suns and 96' Sonics had 3 all-stars
When you make a Finals promo and add Tristan and Korver to it, you know LeBron carried bums.

Okay, that doesn't change the fact that in the end, the Warriors still had more all stars. Your logic literally falls apart the moment facts are applied to it.

No, you are objectively trash.
You make a thread with vote, but you don't want to hear anybody so you make just one option, yours.
Your posts are always same useless garbage. There are a million arguments for Jordan to be GOAT, but yours are always most disgusting ones.
You either drag through the mud all his teammates who helped to make him what he is. Or you post some cherry picked stats. Or you try to diminish other greats who you see as his rivals with fantom flaws. And you absolutely unable to provide anything of any intellectual value if anybody challenges your lies. You run for the woods and copypost same tired crap in a new thread.
You and the likes of you are the reason this board is not what it could be.
What a pathetic excuse of a poster.
