Or the passengers getting an ad free, live, full length Pure Taboo show.
Wait a minute did I say that out loud?

Philly sounds like a great place. From getting away with running red lights and speeding, to rape.

Yup. But as others have pointed out on this forum, people commit crimes in Philly because of slavery. So guys like Uncle Phil were extremely lucky.

This is horrifying but people are ****ing soft...
people are the epitome of sheep.
They dont like to intervene or act.
Just stay put. Stay out of it.
Reminds me of many clips I saw of things happening on trains...
people just sit there. Dont have what it takes to get up.
They're almost as bad as the perpetrator himself.

I suspect the situation is not what most people are picturing based on the headline.
If the woman was conscious and coherent, she would likely scream and hide behind other passengers, and they would intervene instead of put up with a bunch of nonsense going on right in their face. The article doesnt suggest she was even motioning for help.
Feels more likely it was a homeless woman who was drunk/incapacitated, and some crackhead guy sitting next to her putting his hand down her pants. Hence the “rape.” I highly doubt a dude was physically restraining a screaming, resistant woman and giving her v@ginal intercourse on a train car in front of everyone :lol. That would seem... pretty hard to believe.
I mean obviously it’s abhorrent either way. But worth getting a knife pulled on you by a lunatic for trying to stop a drunk homeless woman from getting fingered?
I dunno. Maybe. Just depends on your priorities I guess.

So guys like Uncle Phil were extremely lucky. But black people are disenfranchised from Jim Crow days which isn't that long ago. Imagine being white back then, and all you had to do was compete with other white people for promotions. Then you use that advantage to build generational wealth you can pass down. That's what people mean when they say white privilege. And yeah there are poor whites who have it just as bad if not worse, but when we talk about and entire race of people we generalize.
And think about the counterargument people make to that: "but the asians came over building railroads and were equally discriminated against during that era and look at them now". It's weak because just because one race/culture was able to overcome a huge obstacle doesn't mean other races/cultures should have to, too. Those said obstacles shouldn't be there in the first place, that's not what equality is. However, on the other hand, we are trying to make up for this. Affirmative action helps blacks get into better schools and jobs now. Instead of complaining about the past which, sure sucked for you and we all acknowledge it: better yourselves with the advantages you have now.

I could actually imagine a situation where she just stayed silent out of shock.
This is what normally happens to women in these situations.
The immigrants here in germany basically brought 2 new crimes to the forefront.. I learned about this stuff only since I was in police academy. These crimes never made the news.
But anyway.
1) knife stuff
2) groping on trains + group rapes
And sometimes, a guy would come from behind and put his hand somewhere, or even 2 cornering her on each side... one would put his hand beneath her pants or whatever, the other would just stand and stare...
and the woman goes into a shock trance.
she cant move or do anything at that moment. she never yells...
yelling is rare.
but it would indeed be interesting what rape happened here.

But Black generational wealth is growing too. And in the time since Jim Crow days, Asians and Latinos have surpassed Blacks as well in generational wealth. You do have to acknowledge that. Is there Asian privilege? Latino privilege? I honestly don't see that in 2021, Blacks are still at a disadvantage. I see Blacks being too reliant on the government and government programs. And it doesn't seem to be getting better. It seems that the government continues to intervene on their behalf only producing continued dependency.

Interesting. Obviously it's a terrible situation no matter what, but our subways in America are known to be a bit... grimier than in other places. I could definitely imagine a homeless woman drunk or mentally ill sitting there barely coherent, while some deranged specimen assaults her, and if she's not really reacting to stop it the other people might not wanna risk getting involved.
Also, unlike Europe where a lot of middle and even upper class people take subways... in America it's a bit different (NYC notwithstanding). Anyone might take a train from time to time, but on a daily basis in most cities it's a decisively lower income crowd. So it's not surprising when even the bystanders on a train act in ways the rest of us might find questionable.

Well I take it back, just saw this article with updated details:
As a woman was being raped while on a train near Philadelphia on Wednesday night, riders watched, failed to intervene and did not call 911, the authorities said.
A man whom officials identified as Fiston Ngoy sat down next to a woman at about 10 p.m. on a train that was traveling westbound on the Market-Frankford Line toward the 69th Street Transportation Center. Mr. Ngoy “attempted to touch her a few times,” said Andrew Busch, a spokesman for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, known as SEPTA.
The woman pushed back and tried to stop Mr. Ngoy from touching her, Mr. Busch said. “Then, unfortunately, he proceeded to rip her clothes off,” Mr. Busch said on Sunday.
The assault lasted about eight minutes, and no passengers in the train car intervened, the authorities said.
:biggums:
This is part of the reason Americans don't use public transit, and also why foreigners think we're so strange for carrying credit cards instead of cash :lol
Shit is just too ridic in some places.

+1
Subways in America (NYC notwithstanding) are typically for low income, grimy types. Perhaps someone very experienced in this category of life such as Welfare fan could chime in about his subway rape experiences.
