For an updated player pool and vote breakdowns see the link (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ARaI3VCNauULLYL1Yu24HIRY768FYQdip56sp6uRFGk/edit?usp=sharing).

Everyone may post in this thread but only votes from serious contributors will be considered. Not everyone has to write an essay but there should be some justification or explanation and some coherent arguments being presented. I encourage people to be open-minded and willing to adjust their rankings in response to strong evidence. Debate and discussion is encouraged.

10-6 Giannis. Nike D’Antoni’s vote shouldn’t count the rest of the ranking.

Let’s see you find a single recent ranking that doesn’t have LeBron top 2 or 3

Havlicek, then Isiah.

LOL at Pip at 25. Bron fans and all their alts voting. How does a career 2nd fiddle be ranked this high above LEGIT alphas that won rings as "the man" or just dominated as the alpha? Only on ISH.

Recency bias. After MJ, it's a mix of KAJ, Wilt, Russell, Magic, Bird, Shaq, Duncan, and Bron, etc. This notion that Bron is cemented at 2 is simply recency bias. When it's all said and done and we analyze the era he played in and how easy it was to get to the rack, lack of rim protection, soft rules, historically weak conference for most of his career, and his obvious colluding, people will be harsher on his legacy than now.

Pippen is actually ranked higher on some of the recent ESPN/USA Today/Slam lists. Not saying I disagree with your take, but him being in the top 25 isn't an opinion unique to this site.

It's recency bias too with the LeBron push. Just watch when we get to like 50 and see how many were career 2nd fiddle guys like Pip. Might be a couple at most. A 2nd fiddle should NOT be 25th all time. That's a flawed ranking. Nothing is more important than a dominant alpha.

People fail to realize how little Pip did after leaving Chicago.

From 1999-2004, he played 345 games:

11.5 PG, .436%, 15.7 PER

Does that sound like the 25th best player to you? He colluded with Barkley and Hakeem and did sh*t. He played with an ultra stacked Blazers squad and choked away 2000. People are insane with the Pip talk these days,

Havlicek[...] How does a career 2nd fiddle be ranked this high[...]

Very definition of irony.

I vote CP3.

You don’t have to care, but it proves your opinion is in the extreme minority

You’re delusional if you think guys like Shaq or Bird will be ranked ahead of LeBron in the future. His production and resume blows theirs away. 4 MVP’s, 4 FMVP’s, 17 All-NBA nods and GOAT production and longevity is gonna be hard to push outside the top 2 or 3 :lol

Bron's longevity gives him the edge I agree. But peak wise, you can argue one or both of them were better than Bron.

Bird: 3 MVP, 3 rings, 2 FMVP
Shaq: 1 MVP, 4 rings, 3 FMVP

Peak along with hardware, they aren't that far apart from Bron sans Shaq's 1 MVP. But we all know that's more a testament to his laziness. As a player, he was MDE. So my point is, the difference is not that huge between all these guys.. That's why I'm saying you can mix a bunch of guys from 2-8ish.

No, you can't. Because LeBron has the greatest 5-year peak in NBA history.

2012-2016
5 Finals
2 MVPs
3 FMVPs

Peak wise I agree, there's not some huge gap separating them, esp Shaq who had a GOAT level peak, but ranking is based on your entire body of work. Bird's longevity is literally half of LeBron's :lol And he lowkey has more bad playoff performances than anybody else in the top 10. And Shaq was a lazy bum for a lot of regular seasons, and his laziness hurt him as he approached his mid 30's. Just resume wise, I see no way you could put LeBron outside the top 2 or 3, and his peak is imo definitely top 5, though I know guys like Kareem, Hakeem, Wilt in addition to those two would be in consideration for that as well.
