not having a jumper and therefore not being a player the Sixers can win with?
He subsequently pouted and here we are?
What else happened that I'm missing

Neither the media nor the Sixers made him choke in the Playoffs with all-time bad FT shooting and passing up wide open dunks in the 4th quarter.. Also, he had years to work on his FTs and his jumper and kept posting workout/scrimmage videos on social media like he actually cared about improving his game and that's why he alienated both his teammates and the Philly fanbase, and the worst part is that he made himself completely untradeable as well to a point where even the Sacramento Kings wouldn't take him.

Simmons got roasted for putting up '96-'98 Pippen numbers in the playoffs. (both play elite defense)
Shows you the power of the media.

When did '96-'98 Pippen average under 10 ppg for a playoff series? Or shoot 33% from the line?

23 and 24-year-old Pippen was far worse than Ben Simmons was last year or the year before ,(23 and 24 yrs old)

Simmons averages 14/8/8 with elite defense in his whole playoff career on similar umbrella efficiency to Pippen. Actually better ORTG. He's horrible from the FT line but shoots 57% FG in his playoff career. 2nd 3peat Pippen shot in the low 40s.

He’s not getting roasted for his raw playoff numbers or his ORTG as it pertains to a player that retired 20 years ago and as such played in an entirely different league.
He’s getting roasted because he literally hasn’t improved in any way over the last 4 years, culminating in a situation where he took 45 total shots in 7 games in a series they were heavily favored in. He literally TOOK 3 shots in the 4th quarter...all series. As someone already mentioned he passed up an open layup in a pretty key situation.
And not only has he not improved, he hasn’t really shown that he actually cares to. People in Philly are fed up with him. And as much as you want to make it about the media again..it’s really not. It’s his performance

MJ couldn't shoot either and he still won due to weak competition and a Swiss Army Knife #2 option and a Robust PF
Pair up Ben Simmons with Paul George (Pip) and Julius Randle (Grant) and he will go far playing against 10.7 ppg #2 options in the Finals...

MJ would not have won 6 titles with Simmons. Better?
You can now address the actual reasons Simmons is being shit on
