Beyond this one game, what are your thoughts on the Clippers and Warriors in general entering the new season?

On paper the Warriors don't look like they would compete. They are similar to last year in missing Klay Thompson and missing their center James Wiseman. The Warriors barely slid into the playoffs last year (actually lost the play-in game).

But there's something obvious in the pre-season - which is they are playing like a team on the offensive end with ball movement AND having the intensity they used to have in playing team D -- both ingredients for championship wins in the past. They got away from both things in the last 2 years but seem to have recaptured it.

I'm not sure they have the talent to beat a team like the Bucks with the personnel they have, but they will over-perform expectations.

Haven't followed the Clippers so closely.

Playing a center who fits their offense and knows what he’s doing over wiseman, Poole over a bad shooter in oubre, and adding some veterans off the bench can make an impact. I’m still not taking gs over phx or Utah however during regular season

The Clippers with get more aggressive defensively and start to get physical Lue is an old school coach because he played with Kobe and Shaq, he will get a little physical like last year against the Suns in the playoffs, rough type of physical basketball hand checking, bumping, physical screens tripping & pushing players.

Yeah it was frustrating to watch. Part of it was just making mistakes. The other part was the Clippers were playing stifling, physical defense. I'm a little surprised they got away with it away from home; at home, it would be expected. The first Q was a symphony of ball movement and then when the Clippers picked up intensity w/out refs calling much, things got bogged down and the Warriors tried more aggressive passing with mixed results.

Yeah I don't get it either. It worked well for the years they did; and for virtually every team from High School to the NBA. Kerr is eccentric and likes to break conventional wisdom (in this case of the merits of screens) like over-emphasizing small-ball etc. Unfortunately he does so even when it makes no sense and harms the team.

I wonder if this was because when Kerr played, he was like the 4th option and so when he shot, he was WIDE open, since everyone was guarding Jordan/Pippen; so he's like "I never needed screens, why does anyone else??"

Part of this too is when Durant came in; he was too much of a wimp to set screens and that set a bad precedent. They learned to play another way as many of the rest of the team followed. Unfortunately they still have that baggage. And Steph isn't vocal enough to demand them in real time.

He scored over 40 but blew their big lead in the second quarter.

He was clutch though you have to admit

Career 33% 3 point shooter, "better shooter than Curry though" :oldlol:

contested I am. and I shot 34% before the Achilles injury and that's lebrons percentage wide open lmao

curry needs space and a quick release with a lead in order to make his threes

tonight was kinda fluky tbh

Kobe's great but you don't want to get into a highlight reel shooting competition with the NBA Globetrotter Stephen Curry:

Here's 8 minutes from 2021
