Like humans interbred with Denisovans and Neanderthal in Europe and Asia, I'm pretty sure humans bred with a whole host of hominids that weren't homo sapiens in Africa contributing greatly to their genetic diversity

East Africans are good at marathon stuff because they grew up in rural high altitude mountain regions. That's why you look at them and they look skinny and unathletic but their lungs and O2 assimilation are GOAT tier which makes for great endurance.

Most of the Africans that were brought to America were from west Africa which is much more of a jungle and had people that were much more muscle bound and explosive since they had to be able to survive in short burst action between vegetation escaping predators, hunting, etc.. Artificial selection helped but that is the true reason African Americans dominate our burst power sports like football and basketball.
