He should have gotten a 15m a year contract, that's what he deserved. He was constantly getting outplayed by 1-3 teammates in the series in the PS 21. That's what he actually deserved for the value he gave as a player.

Impressive af to be hovering around top 100 in scoring out of 400 guys for a 36 year old pass-first 5-11 guy playing in the most competitive basketball league on the planet.

Guess it just depends on what your expectations are.

That's not the issue. The issue is that he's doing that and getting 30m/year for it.

He's getting paid for a combination of what he was and what he is. It's normal for the elite or formerly elite to carry their peak value into their twilight years on their reputation. Michael Jordan was less of a player in 1998 than in 1993 - should he have been paid less? LeBron less of a player these past 5 years than the prior 5 years before that. Should he be paid less?

Plus ask yourself what made him one of the best players in the league? Was it scoring? Chris Paul's value wasn't really assessed or punctuated by his PPG. It was always his floor leadership and IQ that stood out first, which was reflected more in things like assists and getting the best out of his personnel around him. He's leading the league in APG this very moment. He still looks convincingly valuable for that reason. Even if he's riding on a bit of reputation.

Magic Johnson is only #72, Steve Nash is #299, what are you trying to say?

That’s all time. Were either of them out of the top 100 any season when they were actually playing?

It's skewed because of 2 really poor games. Small sample size.

His ppg was even worse for the first 5 games last season. Just the usual slow start.

They aren't scorers.
