But since we know 100% LeBron > Kobe then we know Bron better than boff of em.

Lebron can't score quickly, so no... his slower scoring = weaker teammate fits and weaker strategy... And he can't take contested jumpers, which is one of the reasons he can't carry the scoring load like Kobe and always needs an equal-scoring teammate to win a Finals (or close to it)

So he's a kindergartner scorer compared to Kobe's master class

Can you imagine Lebron trying to play in the triangle - he would literally walk out of practice and probably sit out until the coach got fired... all because he lacks the skill to make it work like MJ/Kobe did

Kobe was never better than Jordan.

These are the career stats of Kobe who played a very long time.

But are they really the stats of a top-3 all-time player?

TS%: 240

Here are Kobe's averages across the board in-game sevens and elimination games.

Game sevens

22.2 PPG (Regular season career average is 25.0 ppg)

Game sevens

33.7 PPG (Regular season career average is 30.1 ppg)

7.7 RPG (Regular season career average is 6.2 rpg)

7.0 APG (Regular season career average is 5.3 APG)

1.0 BPG (Regular season career average is 0.8 BPG)

1.8 SPG (Regular season career average is 2.3 SPG)

TS% 53.8% (Regular season career average is 56.9%)

Kobe has a shocking decline in game sevens and elimination games compared to other all-time greats so that may be one key reason on why he is usually not ranked as a top ten player of all time.

Also, another reason might be his finals stats

2000 - 15.6 ppg | 39 fg%| 41 TS%

2001 - 24 ppg | 41.5 fg% | 50 TS%

2002 - 27 ppg | 51 fg% | 62 TS%

What shouldn't be forgotten about Kobe's elimination games are when his team lost, they got massacred

2003: 28 point loss
2004: 13 point loss, trailed by 28 with 5 minutes to go
2006: 31 point loss
2007: 9 point loss
2008: 39 point loss
2011: 36 point loss
2012: 16 point loss

And with the exception of 2012, Kobe was absolute dogshit in virtually all of these games

That's just disgraceful to get blown out that many times in must-win games.

It's respect for the dead and his greatness. That is all... I have no problem flip-flopping MJ and his clone once in a while for kicks.

if i had kobe at #7 or something, then it wouldn't make sense.. but to flip-flop 1 & 2 once in a while for kicks and to shout out the late Kobe, it's all good

2019 > 2009

11-03-2021, 05:13 AM
It's really close if we're just talking about their talent/skill level, career-wise it's not that close though. Jordan is untouchable compared to anyone and the only legitimate argument over him is Bill Russell if you want to talk about the impact they had on the league, even then MJ inspired more players and created more trends than anyone else.

You can debate their peaks but he’s nowhere close to Kobe career wise and never will be. Also his 2014 ring is absolutely not worth more than Kobe’s 2001 ring wtf.

Kobe played as well as he did because he was a 2nd option to Shaq. Give anyone Shaq and they ball out…

For normal people with regular functioning brains we know this is true for all atg. Who knows what would have happened if kobe, mj, bron, wilt, magic, kareem, russell and whoever played together in the same era during their primes. The goat list is just rankings of who had the better career not who's necessarily the better player.

Can someone explain Kobe’s amazing mentality and do two things, explain how it differs from Chris Paul, and then explain why that difference is actually a good one.

Jordan is better than Kobe in just about every objective measure. I think Kobe’s the most skilled player ever, but it doesn’t translate into more impact, which ultimately needs to be the measure of the better player. Otherwise, if we go by skill Jose Calderon is better than Shaq.

Just before Kobe retired, the majority of basketball fans were like 99.9% sure Mike was greater.

Ditto a better player at his peak and during his prime.

Nothing has changed since. The only 'argument' Kobe has over Jordan is a skilled one, but that doesn't always translate into effectiveness. Another aspect MJ had over Kobe.

Long story short, 3ball has tried and repeatedly failed to put Kobe/Mike in the same sentence. He simply cant.

They averaged 30 and won in the triangle.. only their skillset could win in that offense

With Kobe dropping 16ppg/37% in the final to boot.

But, it's classic 3ball. Set the arbitrary terms that only the player he wants to promote adhere to. It would be like me saying 'only Hakeem had the skillset to win with Otis Thorpe at Power Forward', so Hakeem is GOAT since he's the only one who adheres to the criteria I pulled from my ass.
