Went 5-17 from three, and took no 2-point attempts. Second most shots on the team behind Butler at 18.

Modern NBA is wild.

He’d have to shoot 47% on all 2s to score more taking the same number of shots. The people who don’t value the lost possession from an additional miss as much as the long term points produced have taken over and they will never give the game back. 8/17 for 16 points with some free throws added would make you a borderline all star at times. That’s alllllmost 2000 Kobe. It’s not just…terribly inefficient looking at it that way.

Prior to this game he was attempting 8 3s per game. Knowing the way they roll in Miami they were probably telling him to take more. I seriously doubt he just decided it n his own to jack up that many.

He is a good shooter that is tall, moves well without the ball and has a quick release. He should be taking a lot of them.

and with the new rules expect more of the same until we get more kobe/tmac/vince type athletes in the league again

But as a team, the Heat were 19/40 form two, and 9/41 from three. When you're shooting 22% from three, it's not good to be taking more threes than twos as a team.

Id imagine that they are taught to disregard the past when there is a shot their offense considers acceptable or good to take.

Just play the system and win or lose with it. Not change it to dabble in a system you won’t fully commit to over making or missing the last few shots.

Is it funny when I watch the math before sense teams miss say….27 in a row and blow a chance at a title?

Sure.

But I get why you stick to and polish your system instead of upending the game plan every time someone goes cold. The goal is to maximize your ability to run the offense not to dabble in 4 versions none of which you can master half hearted.

You should try to get some shots at the rim if your are shooting that poorly from 3 though.

I assume shots at the rim is the desired outcome of every play that doesn’t end in a 3 point attempt or a free throw. I’d have to see the plays in question to know if they were passing up lanes to Jack up threes.

When you have Jimmy and Bam as your two best players you definitely should go inside. I didn’t watch but the Heat do spam 3s at times. There’s not really much else Robinson can do to score so I don’t really mind it from him.
