Top 50 Player Pool
For an updated player pool and vote breakdowns see the link.
Everyone may post in this thread but only votes from serious contributors will be considered. Not everyone has to write an essay but there should be some justification or explanation and some coherent arguments being presented. I encourage people to be open-minded and willing to adjust their rankings in response to strong evidence. Debate and discussion is encouraged.

How the hell did Bill Walton get a vote? He had 2 good seasons and judging by his commentary he clearly has autism.

I'll go with Elvin Hayes who I picked a while ago before the whole Frazier v. Iverson thing started.

Dude was a complete brick and team cancer.
He wasn't much of a team cancer when he led the Bullets to 3 finals including a title. E averaged 23/13 in the playoffs on roughly league average efficiency and also played pretty good D.

The irony of you saying this when you rank Kawhi 1st
Kawhi has 12 all nba selections and is 18th in career playoff win shares, his resume destroys bill tardon.
Difference between being a quiet guy like kawhi and acting like a damn window licker like tardon

Bill Walton, I know people will say he didn't play enough. But who would you rather have to win a championship, Walton for 3 years or Parrish for 20?

Walton should be top 20 if that's the case. And there are still MVPs who were champions in the boars. And where is George Mikan.

It's high time Gary Payton gets some traction. His defensive legacy is unignorable at this point in the rankings: he's probably the GOAT PG on that end, and he's the only consensus top-ten all-time defender and elite two-way player that hasn't been voted in yet.

If Portland does the sensible thing and picks Jordan, Drexler would be where Pippen is now.

Pippen facilitated the triangle and was a better defender, so that hypothetical duo doesn't work the same way MJ and Pippen did. Pip gives up scoring ground to Clyde but not anything else.

I'm voting him every round from now on (except Richmond deserves 50th).

there wont be a triangle in Portland, but its hard to imagine they wont win 2-3-4 titles in the late 80s early 90s with MJ, they had better team than Chicago.

Yeah for whatever reason I had MJ and Drexler on the Bulls when I said that, not Portland. That said, I still feel like MJ and Pippen had more complimentary skillets. But if they somehow ended up with the same Blazers team and THEN MJ is on the team as well? For sure they win multiple chips.

Oh yea because we made the original pool before we decided on doing only a shot-clock era list. I actually wanted to include Mikan but most people were either against it or indifferent so we went with just the shot-clock era so no Mikan. And honestly I think it's better that way. I think most of us don't know much about basketball before 1955.

I get it. Mikan would have been the only pre shot clock era player who played majority of their careers pee 54. Don't think Joe Fulks and Bob Davies would have been getting results. And guys like Arizin and Schayes played both eras.

Most of this board doesn't know much before 2000. Basketball in 1955 is pretty much the ice age.
