Funny how they blame OPEC, but we sit over an ocean of oil. We close pipelines and then wonder why Americans are angry.

I just do not understand how any sane person could vote for this. Just terrible and the extreme left posters (or bots) on this board bring down the left everywhere by making them look absolutely immature and unintelligent. Any sane person would see the underlying agenda of the Democrats being in power and bowing to their own controlling interests.

I know Republicans are just as biased/conflicted by controlling interests, but at least that direction helps the U.S and the western world. A vote for democrats right now is basically a vote for China to lead the world - ironically the largest polluter on the planet with a net emissions target of zero in 2060............ (when it's too late, even if you believe the environmental extremists).

What pipelines have been closed?

I was exactly going to ask that.

Chewbecca will talk about Keystone pipeline. I already know his schtick. As I said probably 7-8 times to him, it's important to note that the keystone pipeline would not have finished & opened until 2023 at the earliest (and this timeline is from before covid hit - expect covid slowdowns/delays to add at least another extra year on top).

As of the end of Trump's time in office, keystone pipeline was only 8% constructed. https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-keystonepipelinexl-builtandpai/fact-check-though-keystone-xl-pipeline-had-secured-most-of-its-funding-it-was-only-8-constructed-idUSL1N2LA2SQ .. so ofc, that was not technically closed if it was never even fully constructed or pumping oil in the first place.

So the Keystone Pipeline was shut down/stopped? Great. Thanks for proving my point.

How can you stop something that was multiple years away from even being turned on?

By stopping the continuation of it. Duh. Americans will keep paying high gas prices cause weak limp-wristed Liberals refuse to dig here at home. Relying on OPEC and the ****ing Saudis. GTFOH! America first, homeboy. Not America when the Saudis see fit.

Refuse to dig here? Last I checked, the US has been the #1 producer of petroleum in the world since before Obama was in office in 2015 ( https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2015/jan/21/barack-obama/obama-america-no-1-producer-oil-gas/ ). This year alone, we are on pace to pump more oil than ever before even though we became the biggest producer of oil under Obama (
https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=PET&s=MCRFPUS2&f=A ). So what you are talking about is nonsense and not based in fact.

You are concerned about cost of gas? Prices will return to 2019-early 2020 numbers. You are a prisoner of the moment depending on how it politically suits you.

Only 11% of our oil comes from opec, but they do have control over the global oil prices. OPEC has lowered output since last year to artifically raise oil prices of all oil. Even though we are the single biggest producer of oil, opec as a group can gang up on us to drive up the global price of oil for everyone. We can't singlehandedly take on all of opec, which as a group controls a much bigger portion of oil globally than us.

Anyways, opec are raising output by 400k barrels per day, but they are still not at the 2019 levels. Trump didn't have to deal with supply shortages and inflation at 30 year high either. Combine it all and we see why oil prices were lower then compared to now.

A) you wrote “pipelines” have been closed. I asked you which ones, and you have been impotently mute.
B) the Keystone Pipeline is already in existence, and is operational. Not shut down at all.
C) the Keystone XL pipeline, which has long been mired in controversy - has never been built, would need to steal land from legal land owners to be built, and was designed to ship oil overseas.
It would not:
lower gas prices
create long-term jobs
affect energy dependence

Now git in the kitchen, and make me a sammich
