But when you don't do things you're supposed to do because some book said not to, you're most likely just using the book as an excuse and interpreting it the way you want to. We used to have more defined roles, everything was under the unity of God, King and Country.... you were a solider, or a housewife, a stonemason or a merchant etc. Now everyone "on their own" and they're lost like sheep without a shepherd.

it's easy to call it religion in the manner that it's an organization where people can/have contributed money to, thus it's easy for people to believe that if you settle in your role, you'll be taken cared of.

when you apply that definition to say "charitable organizations", I think it's fair to say some of those do-gooders have been exposed as well.

Today we can look back at the Greeks worshipping Zeus and the Mayans worshipping the sun and understand those beliefs have no real merit and were created to give them an illusion of why they exist.
