Yes but he's slso younger. I don't think 40 year old bron will be better than 40 year old mj.

If MJ played consecutive seasons without taking time off... you'd have a point.

He turned 40 in February and played about 25gms after that.

Then again it's not like MJ was lying in a hammock somewhere for a couple seasons.

He turned 40 in February and played about 25gms after that. The important part here is him beimg 40. His first "time off" was playing baseball which is still wear and tear on the body. Not that it even matters. No one calls Jordan the greatest ever for what he did in Washington. Similarly although we marvel at how good he is while playing if James is going to miss 20+ games playing for a "respectable" Laker team that isn't going to win a championship this season will do nothing for his GOAT argument.

Lots of guys would go 2/4 with Wade/Bosh or 1/3 with Kyrie/Love, so Lebron didn't win with anything that others couldn't, whereas MJ won 6 Finals without a teammate getting FMVP or 25 ppg - no one else did that more than twice.

So MJ won with what others couldn't and Lebron didn't... :confusedshrug:

The consecutive argument isn't a good one imo. It's based on the premise that bron has more miles because he played more games but this is faulty for a few reasons. One being mj took alot more physical abuse than bron has because of the different era's.

The other is teams in the 90's practiced alot more and practiced way harder. There's lots of testimony of players from that era talking about how the practices were more physical than the games. Teams now rarely practice and when they do it's just shoot arounds

The other reason your argument falls flat imo is that people act like when mj left ball for baseball for almost 2 years he was chillin. He was working his ass off trying to be great in another sport. There's a misconception that baseball training and practices are easy because of how slow pace the the games are but i played baseball for years and trust me they aren't easy.

That all said i do think baseball gave mj the mental break he needed and that certainly would be a factor in this debate
