While Steph, KD, Bron, and Giannis are drawing all the headlines and attention, Jokic has lowkey been the best individual player this season.

The guy is averaging 26/13.5/6.4 on almost 60% with a 35 PER and no one seems to be talking about him.

Meanwhile his team is being absolutely decimated by injuries: Murray is still out, MPJ has nerve damage, PJ Dozier just tore his ACL

What the hell? He has won like 5 games and gave up on the team. He's jamal murray's sidekick

Kawhi blowing a 3-1 lead to him still haunts you to this very day.

Don't worry, maybe Kawhi will eventually accomplish something on the Clippers besides beating Luka and getting injured

No I don't care about that, it was in a prison bubble and both Lakers/clippers voted to leave.

Kawhi has 2 finals mvps. Jokic has 0 finals appearances, all he has is a cute bubble run when murray was the leader in scoring and assists. Jokic has accomplished absolutely nothing in the playoffs, so don't ever put him in the same sentence as kawhi you f'n ingrate.

You were averaging 64 wins a season during kawhi's last 2 seasons and now you're in the lottery. Shut your mouth

He is the current MVP. And he is looking good to repeat. Just wait a bit. Unless curry keeps it up and so be it

Jokic has zero chance to repeat, why do people delude themselves? His entire team is injured, his 2nd best player is out until the end of the season. His 3rd best player might be out until the end of the season and a good team player just got an ACL. And they're 9-9. The only MVP candidates right now are Steph & KD, with the Nets quietly have been winning like every game outside of the Warriors game for the last 13-14 games.

Media hates Jokic for some reason. Was clearly better than Softbiid last season and media made it seem that the only reason he won MVP is because of injuries.

He won MVP last year, so I'm not sure you can say he's underappreciated...

Nuggets unfortunately won't be good enough for him to win MVP. He might very well be the best player in the league or have the best RS, but that's not what the award is. Denver is looking more and more like a play-in team that could miss the POs entirely with all the injuries.

European players are usually underappeciated in the NBA. And if you are a center and your game is about having a great basketball IQ and an incredible skillset but not athleticism, you will be even more unattractive for the average American "I want to see some incredible dunks" fan.

Lol Im sure its because he is European. If you want credit from the most you have to prove it in the playoffs. Jokic is one of my favorite players but he was disappointing against Lakers in 20' and Suns in 21' playoffs.

He wasn't supposed to win against the Lakers. However, he had a memorable 3-1 comeback against Kawhi and PG. Isn't that enough proving for you?

Because his team is around .500.

He won the MVP last year, how much more appreciation he needs?

That's the thing, the guy had an MVP season last year and by all metrics has improved and is having an even better one this year. That should warrant more media attention and serious consideration for best player in the world, and yet the media would probably laugh at you if you said such a thing.

I'm not saying he's definitively the best player in the world, as I believe Curry/KD/Giannis/Jokic/(maybe) Bron all have a reasonable claim, but almost nobody brings his name up in the debates.

It depends where you look. Before he got injured, he was (rightfully) mentioned with Steph & KD as one of the 3 main MVP candidates. Unfortunately media personality morons, like Nick Wrong for example, love shitting on him for having good stats despite loving those same stats when Lebron or another favorite player they love is mentioned.
