View Full Version : How did Jimmy Butler become MVP level player despite losing his three ball?

His entire career he was a great 3pt shooter and an allstar level top-15 player. But in the last few seasons in Miami hes raised his level even further, despite somehow losing his long range ability. It proves either that the threeball is overrated, or that Jimmy is just one of a kind player who can pull this off.

When the hell was Jimmy Butler ever a great 3pt shooter?

Stop making shit up.

He’s gotten worse at it though. Doesn’t matter that much because that’s never been where his value lies. It’d be nice if he became passable again though.

He isn't an MVP level player.

He's in the tier below that but not quite good enough for MVP

From 2015 to 2019 he was shooting circa 35% at around four shots per game. I didn't say that he was a sniper but he was a threat, now he isnt

If you can say something like this then you haven't been watching. Few players in the league positively impact a team as much as Jimmy does.

Jimmy has never been a great three point shooter. He was also never been close to getting MVP.

Hes been MVP level player for years but there is always some statpadder bringing it home.

Correct, there are few others. But there are others who are more impactful then Butler which is why he isn't an MVP level player.

He's in the tier right below that so idk why you're taking that even as an insult

So youre basically drawing the line between MVP candidates and non MVP candidates at Butler? Thats not understanding the impact of leadership, effort, unselfishness and all these other intangibles. Butler is a 25/5/5 wing with elite defense leading one of the best teams in the league. Thats MVP level and saying it isnt just confirms how underrated hes always been.

The man singlehandedly took the Wolves to the playoffs, would have been in the finals with Philly save a fluke shot by Kawhi, he was a reffing error away (David Blatt timeout call) from a 3-1 lead against Lebron's superteam in 2015 and carried the Heat in one of the greatest playoff runs recently only to fall from the Lakers superteam in the finals (where he was the true MVP).

So yeah I take it as an insult.

Agree with this. Especially with the way the Heat are playing so far this year, Jimmy Butler should most definitely be in the running for MVP.
