Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Jonas Valanciunas, Devonte' Graham, Tomas Satoransky

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Russell Westbrook

The Los Angeles Lakers have been inconsistent this year, and they are nowhere close to being the championship squad that many thought they would be. While they have good players, they simply haven't been able to translate that into a run of wins.

A potential way for the Los Angeles Lakers to improve would be via trade. The Lakers have 3 stars, but not much talent in other spots on the roster. It is unlikely that the Lakers would trade Anthony Davis or LeBron James, as that duo has already won them a title. Therefore, if one of their stars were to get traded, it'd be Russell Westbrook.

In our scenario, Russell Westbrook would get moved to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for a package centered around Jonas Valanciunas. Here is the potential trade:

Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Jonas Valanciunas, Devonte' Graham, Tomas Satoransky

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Russell Westbrook

The Los Angeles Lakers Get Back An Elite Center And Some Depth Options
Jonas Valanciunas has had an underrated season thus far with the New Orleans Pelicans. He is currently averaging 19.1 PPG and 12.5 RPG, while shooting an astounding 56.4% from beyond the arc. Valanciunas is generally a confident shooter when left open, and the spacing he provides at the center position would make him a good fit with Anthony Davis, who is well-known to have a preference for playing the PF position.

Devonte' Graham is a great 3PT shooter as a guard, with some ability to be a playmaker. Graham is also not particularly ball-dominant and possesses a solid off-ball game. That would make him a great complementary offensive piece on the Lakers next to LeBron James who can be the primary ballhandler and control the tempo of the game. Tomas Satoransky hasn't had a particularly great year with the Pelicans, but he was a solid role player last season with the Chicago Bulls, showing himself to be a solid ball-handler and shooting 35.6% from beyond the arc.

While none of these players are individually better than Russell Westbrook, getting back a top 10 center, a capable point guard, and a role player could provide the desired impact and help the Los Angeles Lakers improve.

The New Orleans Pelicans Create A Big 3
If Russell Westbrook were to get traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, he will be one of the best point guards in their history. Westbrook is a player that can help the team break their playoff drought: he is a great player who can win a game by himself on any given night and is a triple-double threat night in and night out.

The New Orleans Pelicans already have two All-Star caliber players in Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson. If you were to add Russell Westbrook to this duo, there are few Western Conference squads that will have more star power. Russell Westbrook can take some of the ball-handling and playmaking duties from Zion Williamson, allowing him to focus on scoring. He could also set up Brandon Ingram for easy opportunities on the perimeter, and allow him to have an easier time getting his points.

There is no question that the New Orleans Pelicans are a piece or two away from making the playoffs and being a competitive team. They have a lot of young players currently, and they need a veteran leader who can guide them in the right direction. Russell Westbrook could be that player, and we've seen many teammates laud his leadership in the past. His no-nonsense attitude could help the franchise get back to winning ways

Soynds like, they gave Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell, and the 22nd overall pick of the 2021 Draft for Jonas Valanciunas, Devonte' Graham, Tomas Satoransky.
