Now if he would just stop shooting 3s....
But yeah being able to hit midrange shots was huge for him in the playoffs last year. He is currently shooting 43% from 10 feet to the 3 pt line which is great for him.

As the poster above said, he is shooting 43% on shots 10-16 and 16-3P
But both of those areas account for 18% of his shots. He has shot 65 times so far this year from 10 feet to the 3 point line. Not makes, attempts. He has 42 dunks so far this year. He has more dunks this yea than he does made mid range and long twos....
You are right, his midrange or lack thereof is scary.

Well that's actually the point of the thread. He is going to be taking more and more, and now he's making pullups/postfades, and he's already won a title with is midrange game or 'lack there of". That is actually 'scary"

Based on what? Until I see it in the playoffs, this is just noise. Especially at such a low clip.
Reality is for the Bucks the last 5 minutes of the game they will do what they did all of last season. Give the ball to Middleton and let him cook while Giannis watches on the offensive end (and plays D).

Until you see it in the playoffs? He hit 47% on jumpshots from 10-16 ft in the playoffs according to basketballreference.com. He is going to be taking more and more because once his driving lanes are cut off and there is no pass available he can rise up and shoot, instead of accruing an offensive foul or turnover. I'm not sure why you think that's so complicated, its just common sense.

Scary?
Whats the concern? That he couldn’t drop 50 to win his team a ring….again?

He's a hard worker so I have no doubt in my mind that he'll eventually become a reliable mid-range scorer if he keeps working at it. He should prioritize getting his FT% back up though, he had a 5-year stretch where he averaged 74.6%FT from the line and now he's in the mid-60s for the third year and he's also been 60.8%FT shooter in the Playoffs from 2017-21. He was looking like Shaq from the line last year (55.6%FT in his first 20 PO games) before that Game 6 of the Finals.

How many shots did he take? Those stats are worthless if he's barely shooting. If he was so good at mid ranges last PS, why was the ball in Middleton's hand every single possession the last 5 minutes of the game? Even this season the amount is very low and most of the time he shoots is when he has acres of space because nobody in the league respects his jump shot.
Once the PS begins and the games come towards the end, either Middleton will get the ball or Giannis will try to turn into a mid range shooter and lose the series.

When he's hitting his jumpers he's just a problem(trust me I know as a Suns fan).... it's like what tf can you do against him when he's actually jumpshooting good. Very difficult to guard, especially whenever you don't have any real rim protectors on the court.

Needs to continue to improve it but it's definitely comong along. I made a thread a couple of years ago that greek would dominate this decade and win multiple chips starting this year or next year. At the time i thought it take him another 2 or 3 years to develop his mid to where he needed it to do that and it looks like he's right on schedule. Last years chip was lucky and just a bonus but i expect him to win 4-6 more in the next 7 or 8 years.

This is huge for his game. It's just going to make everything else more effective when defenders can't concede mind rangers to Giannis.

He absolutely does and it was a big reason they won a ring last year.
He couldn't do it against Toronto against Kawhi. When they cut him off from getting to the rim he was completely ineffective. Back then in the playoffs he shot 12.5% from 10-16 feet, 36% from 16 to 3pt.
He isn't going to make it rain from midrange like Durant or Derozan but that doesn't mean he has no midrange game.
He really needs to stop shooting 3s though.

I mean, Phoenix's defensive strategy against him was trash and Monty was too stubborn to change his tactics. If I'm not mistaken, Giannis made 15 shots outside the painted area in the Finals. They gave his those shots as well and also, the dude always had a lane to the basket. The Sun's were horrific when it came to stopping him.
I honestly feel that a healthy Lakers team would've annihilated the Bucks, if they met in the Finals.

He's obviously not a better pure shooter from that spot than many percentage wise beneath him...
but he gets better looks due to his physique than many smaller guys, that have more hurried and contested/hindered shots in there.

Lebron has literally never faced him in a playoff series or the 76ers for that matter :oldlol:

The dude never mentioned PO's. This doesn't even compare to MJ purposefully ducking Hakeem in the PO's.
