NPR looked at deaths per 100,000 people in roughly 3,000 counties across the U.S. from May 2021, the point at which vaccinations widely became available. People living in counties that went 60% or higher for Trump in November 2020 had 2.7 times the death rates of those that went for Biden. Counties with an even higher share of the vote for Trump saw higher COVID-19 mortality rates.

In October, the reddest tenth of the country saw death rates that were six times higher than the bluest tenth, according to Charles Gaba, an independent health care analyst who's been tracking partisanship trends during the pandemic and helped to review NPR's methodology. Those numbers have dropped slightly in recent weeks, Gaba says: "It's back down to around 5.5 times higher."

...

The trend was robust, even when controlling for age, which is the primary demographic risk of COVID-19 mortality. The data also reveal a major contributing factor to the death rate difference: The higher the vote share for Trump, the lower the vaccination rate.

The analysis only looked at the geographic location of COVID-19 deaths. The exact political views of each person taken by the disease remains unknowable. But the strength of the association, combined with polling information about vaccination, strongly suggests that Republicans are being disproportionately affected.

Recent polling data that show Republicans are now the largest group of unvaccinated individuals in the United States, more than any other single demographic group. Polling also shows that mistrust in official sources of information and exposure to misinformation, about both COVID-19 and the vaccines, run high among Republicans.

...

Being unvaccinated increases the risk of death from COVID-19 dramatically, according to the CDC. The vast majority of deaths since May, around 150,000, have occurred among the unvaccinated, says Peter Hotez, dean for the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine.https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/12/05/1059828993/data-vaccine-misinformation-trump-counties-covid-death-rate

Is it really the vaccine or is it because those counties tend to be poorer with higher rates of obesity? Life expectancy in blue states were always higher than their counterparts, even before the pandemic.

Probably because they're only looking at deaths with Covid-19 starting May 2021 through ~November 2021.

It would be interesting if they came back and did the same study from November 2021 through March 2022, or even Nov 2020 - March 2021, but I'm betting the results won't fit their agenda so the data won't be published the same way.

Good thread on Covid vaccines here: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1466814347762671628.html

Unfortunately there are no large RCTs that show the vaccines reduces risk of hospitalization & death - that I know of... please post one if you can find one. theman93 was kind enough to post an update on the Pfizer study in which there were more deaths in the vaccine group than control group:

There has been an UPDATE***** to this study.

21 patients who received the vaccine died, not 15.

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/fda-quietly-discloses-that-21-not-15-people-died-during-pfizers-jab-trials/

Also, no known infections prevented by NPIs (lockdowns, masks, vaccine passports, travel bans, etc) so far. Latest CDC estimate is that we had ~146,600,000 cumulative Covid-19 infections in the USA by end of September. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/burden.html

Remember that most of the "high risk" groups have long been vaccinated:

And that the group least interested in the Trump vaccine are probably not the biggest Trump supporters...

This is actually a somewhat low key White Supremacist thread. It's been known for years now that the groups of people that are the least vaccinated, and it's not even close, are Blacks and Mexicans. There isn't a significant difference between political party identification and who is or is not vaccinated. The funnier thing is, Mr. Donald Trump is pro-vaccine and the only reason why the world had Covid vaccines in a record and "impossible" time frame. Mr. Donald Trump is basically a hero/vaccine God.

Given the long history of OP's ignorance and blatant misinformation, I didn't even bother fact checking his stats. Why fact check an idiot that is ALWAYS wrong? There's a reason why in 2020, he was smitten about swing trading ONE stock of Apple, and micro amount of shares penny stock X and penny stock Y. Had he been less of a sucker and loser in 2020 and the many years prior, he would of at least double, triple, quadruple, 10x, his net worth like a lot of conservatives last year. He would of been talking about buying hundreds of Apple and Tesla stocks instead. He would of been increasing his income streams, and creating passive income. But he would rather OMB on ISH every day, it's a way for him to compensate his L's in real life. Same with someone like axe, rrr3, jasper "450k is a lifetime of money to me", racistLegend32.

And what's even funnier? Their hero, Racist Pedophile Socialist joe biden is making their lives worse. Inflation is out of control. Reports say it's at 6.5%, which is an obvious lie. It's well above double digits, and anyone that is paying attention to their expenses knows it. Although I also dislike how everything costs more, I am in much better position to transfer the costs to other people and to use tax law to my advantage than the loser leftists on ISH and outside of ISH.

I'm actually starting to dislike the whole inflation being out of control a little less; it hurts the suckers and losers, the bladefd's, the rrr3's, the jaspers, the axe's, etc, exponentially more. It cripples them to the ground and makes it easier for someone like me to step on them to climb the mountain of The American Dream.

But keep posting OMB propaganda on ISH. Keep putting "2020 ISH ROTY" for 21k posts in one year. Keep pretending you're taking W's on ISH because a billionaire "lost" his reelection campaign. The real W's is what you do in real life, outside of ISH. You'll never achieve The American Dream. Never. But thank you for being in the sucker and loser part of society that makes it easier for others. People like me are thankful, but we know we don't owe you anything. You all didn't do it to be charitable, you all did it out of stupidity and with the intent to hurt your political opposition.
