View Full Version : LBJ has more title clinch triple-double games than MJ has in 179 career playoff games

I've been reading a lot of hater comments about how LeBron's 100 career triple double was empty stats and what not, even though he was by far the best Lakers (or Grizzlies) player on the floor tonight
So I thought us ordinary, objective people would enjoy the goal-post moving comedy stylings of Jordan stans when they try to explain how LeBron has 3 championship clinching triple-double games while Jordan has 2 career playoff triple double games in a career that spanned 179 playoff games.

He's basically a ball dominant point gaurd with size and athleticism. It's nothing for a ball dominant player to do this. The fact that westbrook did it for a whole season proves this and takes away from brons tripple doubles.
Mj on the otherhand was a 2 gaurd in a system with alot of on and off ball movement. It's way harder to get tripple doubles in these types of systems. If bron and mj traded places bron would have way less trip dubs and mj would have way more.

The fact that Westbrook did it so many times in the regular season yet doesn't come close to LeBron in playoff and especially finals triple-doubles makes LeBron's playoff/finals triple-doubles even more impressive.
The contrast between the fact that Jordan once had a stretch of 7 straight regular season triple-double games and 10 triple doubles in 11 games and the fact that he has 2 playoff triple-doubles in 179 career playoff games (along with 0 finals triple doubles) makes LeBron's playoff triple-doubles even more impressive.
Jordan stans will gladly bring up his self-admittedly stat-padded 1988-89 season to slurp his Madonna-rejected schlong, but this is what you hear from them when it comes to his 2 playoff/0 finals career triple-doubles:

Mj not westbrook and again bron plays in ball dominant system in an easier scoring and assist era. That said bron is a bit better reb and passer so either way he's gonna have more tripple dubs but mj would have more put in the same ball dominant system in this era. Your just trolling or a liar if you say otherwise

Career Finals
LEBRON..... 28 on 48%
KYRIE........ 28 on 47%
JORDAN'.... 34 on 47%
PIPPEN...... 19 on 42%
The 6 additional points that Jordan put on the scoreboard each night (mostly in the clutch and 4th quarter) is more valuable than a few extra assists for Lebron, especially when Jordan's jumpshooting/off-ball allowed better ball movement and more TEAM assists (fyi - jordan had a higher assisted rate than lebron)..
The capacity to have more team assists and play a better brand of ball along with 6 extra points on the scoreboard will yield higher team ceilings/Finals record, so this is more important than Lebron's westbrooking brand that yields lower team assists (hogs the assists).
Btw, rebounds per game is a positional stat, so it's irrelevant aside from offensive rebounds, where Jordan has the career advantage.
Furthermore, Lebron had equal-scoring partners to attract equal defensive attention on various playoff runs, so he didn't face maximum defensive attention - any period without facing maximum defensive attention equals inflated stats compared to Jordan, who always faced max defensive attention/burden by carrying the scoring load in every SERIES, let alone playoff run.
Ultimately, Lebron won and lost with more help than Jordan, so he's nowhere near Jordan.. The record speaks for itself - he never won without super-teams as the clear-cut top-producer, while losing a ton as the favorite and to 1-star teams or non-super-teams.

especially when lebron never carried the scoring load in any of his Finals wins - he always had an elite-producing teammate that was producing nearly as much as him and therefore taking defensive attention away - so he never defeated max defensive attention..
Otoh, Jordan always defeated max defensive attention because there were no other scoring threats that made the scouting report on the Bulls team other than Jordan.

If Jordan didn't have one of the biggest contrasts between his team suckage throughout his career without a particular player compared to team success with a particular player as he did with Pippen, then maybe his legacy wouldn't be ball-and-chained to Pippen. But the way things are? It very much is.

Everyone can see that you're weaponizing a coincidence - it's coincidence that the only time MJ didn't have Pippen is a time period that EVERYONE loses - Durant, Lebron, Curry and Giannis didn't win any playoff series in their first few years either
Ultimately, Lebron had 3 years to develop his team into a high seed before entering the 06' Playoffs - once Jordan had 3 healthy years to develop his team (88'), he made the 2nd Round just like Lebron.. The difference is that Lebron had the East all-star center and other decorated teammates (high seed) in a conference that 1-star teams were winning, while Jordan had a rookie low seed in a conference that required a super-team to win.
