And to segue fully into what was obviously my intended subject of discussion….

I was at Outback last night having decided last minute not to cook or order dinner on our way home. I always loved the bloomin onion but they have really gone a bit far with the concept. They have mushrooms with the same batter and sauce. Which is fine. But they also have bloomin shrimp now. And these Aussie fried ribs which appear to be ribs fried in the bloomin onion batter and then tossed in the sauce.

The batter is good. The sauce is good. But….moderation is key even in such indulgent things.

I started mixing a store bought jerk chicken paste(scallions, peppers, and so on) into a mojo marinade(orange juice, garlic, oil, spices) and adding a bit of honey then brushing it onto grilled chicken as my signature bbq sauce type…thing. People seem to love it. But I’m not gonna just put it on everything now. Would it be good on a pork roast? Perhaps. But I’m not gonna find out.

There can be too much of a good thing Outback. Don’t have to fry everything that will hold batter.

I haven't been to Outback in a while. Sounds like they've gone bloom crazy.

Off topic I know, but Dwight Howard's head kind of resembles a bloomin' onion.
