List of players awarded with the NBA Player of the Week award in league history.

The NBA Player of the Week award was created in the 1979-80' season and Julius Erving was its first recipient. The award is reserved to the best performers of the best teams of each regular season week, Monday to Sunday. Initially, only one player in the entire league was awarded each week, but since 2001-02' season, at least two players are selected, one from the Eastern Conference and another from the Western Conference. In rare ocasions, the award has been shared by two players.

They didn’t do it by conference when he was on the Bulls. Only gave out one instead of two like they have for a long time now.

How so? It's possible to like basketball and not suck MJ's dick at the same time.

To be fair, Curry's Nickelodian blimp is a more legit award than player of the week.

We really pretending 4 championships isn't a lot now :lol I wonder if there are fans on football or hockey message boards legitimately arguing Montana & Gretzky didn't win a lot of titles.

He's one of two players in history with 4 FMVP's, guess you'll have to resort to the it's better to lose earlier in the playoffs argument :lol

It's not better to lose early. A loss is a loss. Losing in the finals time and again has its own pains. Losing in the finals when you've assembled and handpicked your superteam is another thing though.

You would think an individual award would reflect highly on team accomplishment right? Specially when Lebron has spent a good number of years with really good teams to win it all. But I guess it stops at individual accomplishments and his stans are quite happy to relish in that even though the ultimate result is that he diminishes teammates with his ball dominance.

Well, if we're calling his '07, '15 & '18 Finals casts "superteams", then sure

Damn, LeGOATest needs just one more to have literally twice as many as any other player in history? And already has more than #2 and #3 combined? I didn't know this. That's just nuts.
