March 95':

FINDINGS: In less than 18 months, Pippen destroyed a 3-peat dynasty by having a borderline lottery team before MJ returned in March of 95'.
The fall from 3-peat dynasty to borderline lottery included a brief honeymoon period/surprise factor that ended with multiple historic chokes in the 94' Playoffs - i.e. the "sit-out" game (2nd option to Kukoc), the "dumb foul" game (confirmed by enlarging gif (https://i.makeagif.com/media/12-12-2021/LCBZJA.gif)), and a horrible game 7 (confirming he was NOT a 1st option, and only a 2nd option alongside Mike)..
Kobe got outplayed by Austin Croshere in the 2000 finals.

As did Jordan by Shawm Kemp/Blake Griffin in the 1996 finals.

Yeah but Kobe is his favorite player not MJ so I like hitting him where it hurts. He just uses MJ to attack LeBron cuz he knows Kobe can’t compare.

The Bulls lost Grant to the Magic. If he was there they would have been at least as good as they were in 94.

Ding ding ding. Grant was as high as 3rd in the NBA in WS/48 and was the East all star PF in 94.

You can't complain about losing Horace when you already had an extra Horace-level player in Kukoc that Jordan never had..
The Bulls made upgrades to every roster spot in 94', including the addition of a 3rd Horace/Pippen-level player in Kukoc, who was #1 option in the clutch and led the Bulls in Playoff BPM, OBPM, and was 2nd ahead of Pippen for WS/48..

Imagine adding a previous 6th round pick (who played in Italy the 2 previous seasons) as your new starting SG..... and it's being called an upgrade.
Extremely dumb.

Every single roster spot was upgraded outside of the core (MJ/Pip/Grant/BJ)
This included the addition of a 3rd Horace/Pippen-level player in Kukoc, who was #1 option in the clutch and led the Bulls in Playoff BPM, OBPM, and was 2nd ahead of Pippen for WS/48..
After Kukoc saved the Bulls in the 94' Playoffs, Pippen was borderline lottery with Kukoc in 95' until MJ returned (and 3-peated with Kukoc)

Pippen's '95 record before Jordan came back is still better than any that Jordan achieved in 5 seasons without Pippen

Who were the great defensive guys that were brought in and the reasoning why Chicago's defense was better than the season prior?

Holding Pippen to the same standards as Jordan? What a strange way to deflect

Not sure if this is what you were asking, but the 94' Bulls had the same defensive rank (6th) as the 1st three-peat (7th, 4th, 7th), so the catastrophic drop from 3-peat team to 2nd Round was due entirely to the loss of Jordan's goat offense, which caused the Bulls to fall from #1 all-time offensively, to 14th in the league
