imagine one single "moderate" senator from the republican party attempting to hold up trump's entire agenda. someone like a mitt romney or a lisa murckowski. trump would send out a 'mean tweet', turn his entire base against them and ruin their careers.

imagine lbj, or fdr getting rolled by his own party. this poor bastard joe has no idea how to use the bully pulpit. for one, he could use the carrot or stick approach.

"hey joe, get on board with my agenda and i'll give you extra provisions in this bill for your state. i'll give you a new military base. i'll campaign for you and ensure your reelection."

"hey joe, you go against me and ill instead strip out those provisions. i'll hit the stump in west virginia and campaign against you. i'll have merick garland start in investigation into your daughter's corruption and get her thrown in jail".

but joe's too nice for that sort of thing.

Biden has to hit back hard against Manchin, but he won't.

Diamen is right - fdr would have publicly humiliated Manchin & run his political career into the ground. I wouldn't be surprised if FDR had FBI/DOJ open up investigations on Manchin. Manchin's daughter had some huge scandal brewing that was put under the rug a couple years ago afaik. You can potentially end his career if you really wanted to. I don't see Biden doing anything though like that.

@OP, It's an oligarchical ruling class of Bezos, Musk, Buffet, etc. If they don't want something passed, it won't be. Manchin and Sinema(pos people, sure) are the fall guys. If they voted for the bills guaranteed 2 dems overnight will have a 'change of heart' and vote against the bill. You can see it in their laissez-faire attitude when it doesn't pass.
