Players with elite jumpshooting skill have a track record of developing young players like Curry did with Klay/Dray/Poole/Wiggins, and like MJ did with Pippen/Grant/BJ/Paxson, who grew by leaps and bounds every year.

Otoh, you don't see growth alongside ball-dominator because they reduce everyone into spot-up shooters

According to the stats, MJ is the greatest 2-point jumpshooter of all-time... BY FAR

And he only took bailout volume on threes (less than 1.5 attempts most years), and shot well anytime he was above bailout volume.. Heck, Curry wouldn't shoot threes that well either if he limited himself to 1 bailout per game like MJ did

MJ sucked at 3pt shooting

MJ sucked at 3pt shooting

* 43% on 5 attempts in the 92' Finals

* 39% on 4 attemtps in the 93' Playoffs

* 35.1% on 2.1 attempts in 85-93' Playoffs (34.9% on 1.9 attempts for 80-89' Bird)

* always shot well above bailoutt volume, so he'd have a lot of shrug games getting in rhythm at higher volume in today's 3-pt offenses

exactly.. just 2 attempts was sufficient rhythm for him to shoot 35%... and 39% at 4 attempts in the 93' Playoffs... and 43% at 5 attempts in the 92' Finals... probably 47% at 10 attempts in today's game.. and so forth.. goat form shoots better with more attempts to get in rhythm... so he'd have a lot of shrug games in today's 3-point offenses that yield higher 3-point volume for everyone, even bad shooters.

That's a bit too modest, that's what Curry basically shot in 2016, Jordan would be at least a tier better than that imo.

Interesting. No excuses for gs this year especially if klay comes back.
