that the joe biden presidency so far has been an absolute disaster and failure of epic proportions. you could argue that it's only been a year, but with midterms coming up (looking especially grim for dems) and no promising prospects for 2024, (aside from pete & kamala :hammerhead:  :hammerhead:) unless somebody magically appears to 'save the day' like obama did in 2007; with joe machin's shutting down of the biden agenda, biden can be as early as now considered a lame duck (bad run-on sentence but too early in the day to care).
let's give slow joe a break and give him credit for a few things:
- pulling out of afghanistan. obviously there's been disagreement on this because of the mess that it's been, but i could honestly give a shit. all i care is that we're out of there. whether or not we're done bombing there is a whole other discussion though. fact is, as messy as the pull-out was, it was probably the most organized part of the war... yeah - that's how bad it was.
- stimulus checks. meh... can this even be considered worthy of credit? they were $2000 during the campaign, but cut to $1400 once he landed himself in office. think of it this way - the previous conservative administration dished out more relief money to americans than the party of supposed 'big government'. and quite possibly, without trump mentioning $2000 checks during his last days, joe may not have even had it included in the bill period. remember, advised congressional democrats to vote for the second stimulus of dec 2020 without checks.
- raised wages for federal workers (failed to raise the general minimum wage using the excuse of the congressional parliamentarian who btw holds zero power and is not an elected official.
-distributed vaccines (despite pissing on his own optics by prolonging a pandemic that should have been declared over a few months after mass vaccinations began.
let's list his failures, the first few of which are paramount:
- a lingering pandemic with new lockdowns and mandates being put in place as we near the TWO YEAR mark of this pandemic and as the holidays approach. i've said it before - covid is endemic. it's here to stay until the end of f***ing time. we have vaccines, boosters and therapeutics. so what is the end game? joe biden has no idea.
- vaccine mandates. while the joe biden federal policy is only a soft mandate which requires companies with over 100 employees to either get vaxxed or get tested weekly, he isn't pushing back against state and city-wide hard mandates. due to his silence on these particular mandates, joe in essence passively supports them.
- inflation. i don't have the capacity to speak on this on a nuanced level, but accompanied with the covid hysteria is amercican's #1 concern. gas prices and groceries are killing people that work paycheck to paycheck.
- the recent joe manchin fiasco effectively ending the joe biden presidency. i've never seen anything like it. i posted about this in another thread, so i'll just leave this here:
imagine a single "moderate" senator from the republican party attempting to hold up trump's entire agenda. someone like a mitt romney or a lisa murckowski. trump would send out a 'mean tweet', turn his entire base against them and ruin their careers.
imagine lbj, or fdr getting rolled by his own party. what an embarrassment of a president. no campaigning, no sunday cable news appearances, no public pressure on joe manchin to get this bill passed
- unity between parties. i BIG campaign promise. come on, man!
- student loan debt relief. joe campaigned on relieving americans of 10k of student loans, of which can be done with the stroke of a pen through executive order. trump paused this during the pandemic. joe recently restarted it as "cases flare and new lockdowns begin, crippling young people".
that's all i can think of off the the top of my head. this was typed in haste this morning, so forgive the jumbled mess that it is. feel free to add to it, or argue against it.

His biggest positive is the all time low unemployment level. There are more job openings than there are people looking for jobs. Everyone who wants to work is working and the economy is up and running.
His biggest negative is the supply chain issues which is probably the largest cause for inflation right now. The supply chain issues need to be resolved and when the bottlenecking is resolved inflation will relax to healthy levels.

Howard Stern needs to run for the Dems in 2024. He's their best option , and imagine the Stern vs Trump debates. It would ne epic. Of course, Trump would roast him in both the debates and the election, but man, it would be fun while it lasts.

Failure for whom? I'm sure it's going exactly the way our government's controlling interests have planned.
People in gov with access to info about the future have the resources to direct it as they see fit. Our socioeconomic model is planned well in advance. Presidential administrations dont just come in and start making random decisions. It's a big picture course of events, planned and implemented by wealthy long before it actually happens.
At this point they're giving up the charade that each party cares about supposed 'platforms,' and instead just doing what powerful people want under the pretext of Covid. The next manufactured crisis will probably involve China, or even aliens, who knows.
People like rr3, millertime, loco50 thought they were rebellious revolutionaries who really "got" what left wing leaders were preaching, but are realizing they're just moronic dupes who bought a line of shit orchestrated by big money. Hence they've large abandoned the discussions. They're embarrassed to admit they were played for fools.
What can ya do? There's the old saying "You cant fix stupid." Our society is basically at the mercy of whatever direction powerful people choose to manipulate stupid people into moving. It's tough to stop because you cant get stupid people to admit they're stupid. It's a very important lesson ISH has taught me tbh :lol
Only thing you can do is try to adapt to what's going on.

Do you know why gas prices are high? It's because the demand is high. Do you know why the demand so high? It's because under Joe Biden we are all out driving our cars and no longer trapped inside like we were under Trump

I agree with diamen.
Few points:
-Biden could push back against state/city mandates but he doesn't have to. It is not exactly his jurisdiction tbh and he is choosing to not get involved. Right or wrong, but he has that option
-inflation is rough. That is why the feds are pulling back on the bond-buying slowly until they pull the plug in March and interest rates are to hike up. Whoever was president would have also faced inflation due to supply shortages coming out of a 15-month long global shutdowns. It's not just an American phenomenon but rather an issue across big parts of the world.
-Don't forget the infrastructure bill. That was a bipartisan success.
Biden has low unemployment and stock market going for him. I don't know if the stock market will remain once interest rates begin to climb to bring down inflation.
I agree with the rest. No other issues. You are correct. I expected Biden to be a 1-term president, but boy is it looking bad going into midterms. If Republicans gain both houses, nothing at all will pass for 2yrs. Democrats desperately need a powerful voice for 2024 run. I just don't know who.

People don't want to work?? How do you explain all time low unemployment rate that 'off the court' referred to?
Listen, there are not enough work-age people to fulfill all of the positions open out there. Baby boomers are on their way out, retiring in high numbers. Work age is between 18 and 65 so if any boomer retired in late-60s, they would not be considered in work-age category anymore.

This dude still thinks republicans and democrats in government are "against" each other.
They're all serving the same interests. And the election pendulum will always swing back and forth. When Republicans have the appearance of authority, big money will push interests republicans can get away with. When Democrats have the appearance of authority, big money will do what they can get away with under democrats. At the end of the day the same interests control both parties.
Over time, all of these policies were going to happen regardless. It has nothing to do with partisan battles and electing this or that party. Elections are meaningless. All they do is temporarily shift issues to the front or back burner depending on who's in charge. But eventually it all gets cooked the same way.

What is mildly amusing is all the people that I knew IRL last year talking as if getting rid of Trump was the panacea and that all that had to happen was replacing him with [any sane adult] would magically make things better.
The sad fact is that these delusional fools aren't in a place to acknowledge that their takes/analysis/flair for having a clue for what is going on were all wrong.

What blows my mind is the fact that he is the first president in US history who is not even capable of answering questions from reporters... the dude is completely senile, literally everything he says is read off of a teleprompter or notecard.
No doubt Joe Bidens presidency has been a failure of epic proportions, but in a sense its not even his fault. After all, the only decisions that Joe is making is what flavor ice cream he is going to eat every night - the real decisions are made by his staff/advisors, who can comfortably operate in the shadows while senile Joe takes all the blame for their nefarious/incompetent decision making.

Kyle Rittenhouse was a nobody and he should have remained a nobody as a private citizen. But it was your Dems and especially your President who made him more than he had to be and painted a target on his back by calling him a White Supremacist.
And that's all lousy Democrats do nowadays. Whenever they encounter a White person who doesn't vote their way, they label them a White Supremacist. Weak ass cowardly tactic.

The Trump presidency was a failure of epic proportions, and Trump is the most divisive president in history. Instead of actually doing his job, he (and other retarded GOP politicians) spent four years dividing the country even more.
Republicans are pathetic cowards who fight back against progress and common sense. Instead, they bitch non-stop about culture wars and spread pointless outrage porn. The Democrats need to do a better job of fighting back against these psychos; instead, they give them too much of a pass.
The entire political system in the U.S. is ****ed beyond repair and needs to be destroyed entirely before it descends into full-blown right-wing fascism.
