This season. I’d be interested in his all time career as well. Most likely it falls in line

What does LeBron have to do with curry shooting? We are talking about the goat shooter shooting 19% in the clutch

Source? Clutch is subjective depending on how much time being left you consider clutch. Even with bron you can get completely different numbers depending how much time you use as clutch

This is one of those times where context matters and the raw number doesn't tell the picture. I'm not arguing that Curry is clutch, because he's not, but many if not most of those clutch shots were against double teams, off balance, or otherwise very difficult shots. At least he had the balls to take them.

In the regular season. Playoffs and finals it’s worse.

The fact that he isn't tall enough or athletic enough to get a easy look against tough defense like mj, kd or even bron isn't really an excuse for him.

I would like to see his actual clutch numbers though. No way it's 19%

Yeah, when there's no source for a thread like this, I always wonder where it came from. Or if OP just made up the 19%.

Curry's poor clutch shooting confirms why Jordan had poor 3-point efficiency - Jordan only took bailout volume (less than 1.5 attempts per game for most of his career), so apparently ANYONE (even Curry) shoots poorly on these kinds of shots (bailouts at the end of shot clock).. If someone (anyone) limits themselves to 1 bailout per game, they will shoot poorly, as proven by Curry's poor efficiency on these kinds of shots.

Curry shot 43% on exactly 1.5 threes/game in the clutch last season.

Those aren't bailouts, aka end-of-shot-clock

Jordan only took bailouts/forced shots (because he was trying NOT to take threes) and we know that curry sucks at end-of-shot-clock attempts (game-winner type shots)

again, ANY player will shoot poorly if they restrict themselves to 1 bailout per game like Jordan did.. But anytime Jordan shot above bailout volume, he shot well..

At 2.1 attempts, Jordan shot 35.1% in the 85-93' Playoffs.. At 3 attempts, he shot 38% in the 90' regular season... At 4 attempts, he shot 39% in the 93' Playoffs.. at 5 attempts, he shot 43% in the 92' Finals.. So he would probably shoot 45% on 10 attempts in today's three-point offense that yield high volume for everyone, including bad shooters... Great form shoots better in rhythm at higher volumes.

Can we see the source of this number or is this another one of those cases where statistics have been tortured to give a particular result?

Frankly the commonly told clutch stories are absolute baloney. I'll take "unclutch" Curry everyday of the week and twice on Sundays over "clutch" Lillard. This is the guy after all who can be said to have won a game because he went scoreless and eliminated two arguably top 30 players all-time playing at the same time despite going scoreless in the first half. This is a guy who can find his team down by double digits entering the 4th quarter and then isn't called clutch because he ended up leading them to a double digit victory.

You can take the clutch guy and I'll take the winner every time.
