Here's Vernon Maxwell saying how off-ball players like MJ, Miller and Drazen Petrovic are the hardest to guard:

Jordan ran off screens and could rely on his off-ball game because he had elite jumpshooting skill (a goat-level 2-point shooter - the goat 2-point shooter based on stats).. Elite jumpshooters allow the best teammate fits and team strategy (ball movement), so they yield the highest team ceilings/Finals records with the least help.

Jordan made 700 jumpers in 1997 (250 more than Curry's career-high) at bettter jumpshooting efficiency than Lebron's best jumpshooting season.

So he was taking more catch-and-shoots per year than........ anyone

A cursory glance shows MJ moving off-ball quicker and more elusive than anyone ever.. He had every trick (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldyanHiv7ko&t=01m37s) in the book but no one noticed because he was so athletic..
