"I think he had off shooting night. He missed so many shots around the rim, that he has been accustomed to making throughout his career and throughout this season. So I wouldn't worry too much about that. His decision making was spectacular tonight. 11 assists. 12 rebounds, 5 of them offensive and we know we arent one of the better offensive rebounding teams in this league. he gave us extra possessions, he just missed a lot looks around the basket which I know he cant stand as well.. .."

did Westbrook have to defend Lebron when Lebron was like a -30 just the other day?

No. But I think after this defense https://twitter.com/i/status/1474949062705229829 Lebron will throw a chair at him in private haha

I mean, Lebron is right. Westbrook did have a triple double lol. He did get the most rebounds in the entire game. He did miss some shots around the rim he normally makes. However, what Lebron didn't mention is Westbrook's lack of bball IQ. Westbrook makes some of the dumbest decisions during the game. For example, he left Patty Mills wide open for that late game 3. Like how do you leave a shooter, who is having his career high game, wide open for 3. Not to mention, he had some critical turnovers in key moments of the game. Also, he shot 4-for-20 lmao. He couldn't buy a 3, as usual.
So, while I agree with Lebron. He also didn't tell the whole story. Lebron knows Westbrook is a problem. A huge problem. The Lakers have to get rid of him in a trade.
To sum up why Westbrook is horrible:
-Low bball IQ
-Turnover machine, especially in key moments of the game
-Can't shoot
The triple doubles aren't going to cover up those holes in his game. He has to go. ASAP!!!

Tbh I dont see anything wrong there. He couldnt follow his man directly to the corner because there was another guy popping out at the top of the key. His teammates doubled the penetration and he was stuck guarding two guys.
Dont get me wrong, Westbrook sucks and so do all of Lebron’s teammates. But that particular play was more about team suckage than something exclusively WB’s fault.

this would make sense if he went to actively cover the dude around the top of the key, he literally was ball watching man. but when you get screened right, you’re supposed to SWITCH to the other MAN
basketball ONE OH ONE
no EXCUSES

You can see him clearly trying to hedge between the two. If he shadows Mills, the ball just goes to the trailer instead for a wide open shot.
It’s easy to second guess in hindsight after the shot goes in. In reality there was going to be an open shot regardless of how he played it.

I am telling you guys. LeBron/AD just look at the stats to see how a player is. They don't even look at advanced stats or watch him play. We fans have probably watched Westbrook more than they have. We fans are probably better judge of talent on average because we actually watch the games.
Michael Jordan was the same way. Horrendous judge of talent who went off stats alone. He didn't last long running the wizards.. He chose Kwame brown, adam Morrison, etc. Good stats in college, but they were huge busts in nba

Yeah but this isn't OKC Westbrook. Dude is 34 on his next birthday, finishing around the rim gets harder for athletic guards once they start hitting 32+.

Yeah. 2017 MVP Westbrook was the last time he was the guy a lot of people somehow still think he is. Westbrook never would have fit with LeBron but it wouldn’t be like this if it was WB from 11-17.

Brook needs to change his game if he wants to be an actual positive to this team, but I'm not sure he can. He still plays the same way he did when he was at OKC, and he ain't that guy anymore. Problem is he's too thick to change.

Actually...he'll publicly back him and then go straight to the GM office to trade him tbh

The 2017 version of WB actually would have fulfilled the purpose the Lakers thought he was going to....if/when Lebron is having an off-night, injured or whatever, and AD is being AD(brittle) he can carry you for stretches. His game will still generate numbers but they just don't lead to what they used to 5 years ago. He's an aging bull in a china shop.

He's too far in now.If you been in the league for, what....14 years now? At his age? I find it almost impossible that his approach to the game is the same today as it was in OKC...but here we are. He's just not a smart player, and at the stage where he is probably best suited to energize a 2nd unit, but he still fashions himself a superstar in his mind. Wouldn't surprise me if he Iversons himself out of the league in a year or two.
