NY Times: "Four years after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and three years since closing its 735 stores, the brand that Charles Lazarus started in 1957 has been raised from the dead in time for last-minute holiday shopping. Its first new store and the mall, in East Rutherford, N.J., are betting on the strength of nostalgia’s grip, hoping that a familiar retail name will attract shoppers who are increasingly accustomed to doing their buying online. Toys “R” Us is planning to follow the opening of the American Dream store with hundreds of mini locations inside Macy’s stores over the next year."

This was every kid's favorite store way back in the day.

it was the GOAT store for a kid. you walk in and see a bunch of badass toys. i remember my dad buying me an optumus prime toy, i took it home to show everyone and slept with it. sucks that toy stores went away. if there was a toys r us open, i'd take my niece there and let her choose whatever.

That's actually interesting. I would like to hear more story of Highwhey as kid going to Toy R Us.

The last time that I went to Toys R Us was on 04-16-2003 with my half Mexican girlfriend.

Actually pretty sad how everything is done online now.

I miss the excitement as a kid.. looking at real toys on a shelf and bringing it home.

Toy R Us brick-and-mortar stores have been surviving in Canada though.

Barely. They closed a lot of stores in Canada. I don't think the existing stores will last.

Many people still like window shopping though. There will always be some rooms of retailers.
