DMX sure knew how to start a verse. Even if the whole verse wasn’t that hard the first couple lines would have you like “This is grimy ass ***** right here…..”. Gotta know how to introduce yourself to the world. Even if you can’t live up to it coming out hard can change perception for a long time. To me the best basketball example is Jamal Tinsley who had a few crazy games as a rookie that made me a career long fan. For most people the best example might be Brandon Jennings though…..

5 games into your career, fresh from Europe having skipped college, and you absolutely torch it and show up the guy who had been lighting up college in Steph.
That obviously didn’t matter long term but that game gave Jennings a longer leash than maybe he deserved and more fans too.
Not the best career but he had a hell of an opening line to grab attention.
Who are the players with early career performances who grabbed your attention and then let you down?
