Personally i think he either needs a fmvp or 2 more mvp's and Another scoring title or 2. There's a chance he gets a mvp and fmvp this year given how good they look and they're still waiting on klay qnd Wiseman to return. If he does that he'd be right there and have a argument for the 10th spot.

With these kinda questions I have to ask myself if anything would be different if the award didn’t exist. If there were no finals mvp 100% of reasonable people would think he led at least one team to a title. 2015. You can think whatever about the others but 2015 is indisputable. I don’t know why the award itself matters. The question is if you led a title team. You can do that without being voted mvp of a single series. The worst finals mvps are probably the worst players to hold any major award.

The worst finals mvp is worse at basketball than the worst DPOY, scoring champ, and is on about the same tier as the worst 6th men of the year. Maybe slightly above. Cedric Maxwell and 2015 Iggy were solid but they are like….miles beyond most 6th man of the year winners.

It doesn’t require being a top tier player. It might take 2 hot shooting games or something.

The question is and always has been can you lead a title team. It’s a bit of a stupid question anyway but it’s the question. And the answer doesn’t require any award to answer.

Hakeem is top 20, I got Bird, Mikan, Duncan, Magic, and Russell taking up the other five spots

I try and balance eras so it's not all guys from one generation

Bird - MVP's, MVP runner ups, Titles (with less help), and the eye test
Magic - best in his position of all-time
Mikan - most championships without help
Russell - best player on the team with the most rings and his rebound stats
Duncan - Titles, another eye test guy

Well, I see Curry ranked about top 15-ish on many lists, and rarely lower than 20. So an MVP this season and a ring should be what it takes, realistically.

Curry even top 15 is a stretch because I got Oscar, West, Moses, Dr. J, and Stockton
So in my top 20 I've got Hakeem, Havlicek, Curry, Malone and Dirk
And my top 25 is Shaq, Durant, Maravich, Paul, and Frazier
And finally my top 30 is Pettit, Barkley, KG, AI, and Baylor

When it's all said and done I can see putting Curry ahead of Stockton but not Oscar which would be 11-13 and #3 at his position
