Anchoring a top defense. Can play all 5 positions. He’s a beast

Yeah...I guess I'd like to see it go to Alex Caruso but guards never seem to get credit

Yes, he's literally all over the floor. The modern day Rodman too how he knows how to get in other players heads, fool refs to get away with cheap shots, moving screens, etc.

Can fit every team and improve them significantly defensively.

Easily it's not really a conversation

Caruso and Jarrett Allen deserve a mention but It clearly goes to Draymond this season who's having arguably the best season of his career

Yeah he pretty much is. Watched a lot of that Heat game last night and he plays his role to perfection on that end. Can't really pick on him in pick and rolls.

This I agree with. The guy is everywhere. Perfect small ball player and can bruise a little with the bigger teams. He can keep up with guards. Perfect glue guy

The Dingo Effect

That happened in 2020. Curry shut it down even after recovering from his hand injury. Draymond did the same shortly after in order for GS to go full tank mode.

5 straight Finals appearances, to tanking less than a year later. That's pathetic.

yep Gobert is doing it mostly on his own. GS looked pretty good against the league's best O ever even without him and Klay

The Jazz’s defensive rating is essentially the same with Rudy on and off the floor..

Rudy has been exposed too many times in the playoffs voters are sick of being let down by him. Draymond is gonna win as he should.

If that dude wins it again, there is something seriously wrong. Anyone who gives him a vote must've been in a coma during the Clippers series to witness how big of a defensive liability he was.

At least he didn't leave them to tank by jumping ship and joining 2 top 5 PER players...then to return once tank is over and assets are acquired.

Of course, he has to win it. And unlike a certain multi winner DPOTY, he's not a liability on the perimeter. I won't say no names though.

the numbers prove otherwise of course

This is from a couple years ago but he's only gotten better since then

You can give me all the numbers you want. I watched him get embarrassed and rinsed in last years PS, or when the Warriors played the Jazz, or even last game vs the Warriors. He was dominant for 3Q and then the Warriors focused on pulling him to the perimeter and chewing him and his team like food. That "defense" on Iggy was embarrassing. :facepalm

not sure what you was watching but the Jazz beat the Warriors with Gobert on the floor. The Warriors won the game when he sat. You are right about the playoffs. He couldn't guard 5 guys by himself unfortunately

He can't guard anybody on the perimeter, he was "guarding" mann and he had a career night on Toodles when they beat them. Was even yelling and talking shit at him for not guarding him all game as he clowned him.

As for Rudy being +10, I'm talking about the 4th when teams zone in on him. Rude couldn't defend for shit vs the Warriors in the 4th.

It was Mitchell's fault. He doesn't pass or play d. Rudy has carried them for 7 years. They were lottery without him. He can't guard everyone! Watch a game! The trolls are out. Poor trolls. Clarkson sucks, the worst ever. COTY is awful. Rudy is elite on both ends, one of the best players in the league.

Yes Draymond is the one gluing everything together with his versatility. There is no one else like him in the league and thank god he is slowly learning back his three point rhythm because he lost it last year in the 2021 season. It was his career low 3p% not including his rookie campaign. Draymond's defensive effectiveness will only go up upon Klay's return as long as he has his lateral movement in tact after his injury. I am looking forward to this meaty trio reconvening soon.
