Durant 29.9 in 32 games
Lebron 28.7 in 28 games
Trae 28.3 in 34 games
Giannis 28.0 in 32 games

Lebron is now 2nd in the scoring statistics ranking. Do you think Durant keeps scoring leadership or Lebron takes over?

I predict KD because Lebron will dial it back once AD returns. But Trae or someone else could make a run for it too.

This season and Lebron's 2008 scoring title proves that he can't win with high scoring because it's too ball-dominant, whereas Durant and other guys with elite jumpshooting skill routinely win with high scoring.

Facts gonna facts - Lebron lost as a massive favorite in 2009 with high scoring (too ball-dominant, so the Magic got better looks with their ball movement) and lost the 15' Finals because he was too inefficient at the extra jumpshooting volume required of high-scoring carry-jobs... And the Warriors caught up to his predictable ball-dominance of course

So Lebron can't beat good teams in the playoffs with high scoring, and can't win much in regular season as a top scorer (scoring champ caliber).. even though he's taller and smarter than Westbrook, Lebron is still a westbrookER, aka spotty-shooting ball-dominator

Durant is the logical choice. If anyone could find betting odds on this, I'd be very surprised if KD wasn't the clear favorite to win the scoring title.

Every great player literally lost in their highest-scoring years. Lebron no different.

Durant won 4 scoring titles, he lost in all 4 years he won the scoring title.
Curry won the scoring title in 2016, he lost in the final vs Lebron.
Kobe Bryant won two scoring titles, he lost in both years ( with one he averaged 35 ppg).

Jordan lost in his high season averages with 37.1 ppg (86-87) 35 ppg(87-88).

James Harden's streak of scoring at least 30 points hit 27 straight games Monday night in the Houston Rockets' win over the Phoenix Suns. It's a scoring run that's only ever been eclipsed by Basketball Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain.

But one more-modern legend says that Harden's ball-dominant style during the streak, while impressive and perhaps even necessary, will not help the Rockets win an NBA title.

Surprisingly that legend is Kobe Bryant

"I'm not a fan of in terms of winning championships, I don't think that style is ever going to win championships," Bryant, the former Los Angeles Lakers star said in a clip released from an upcoming episode of ESPN's "The Jump."

"But at the same time you have to keep your team's head above water to win games, so you have to do what you have to do to win games. And he's doing that."

"So are you saying you don't think James Harden and the Rockets, as constructed, can win a title?" host Rachel Nichols asked.

"Not with this style of play, it won't win. With one player dominating the ball," Bryant replied.

If Durant does win it, it will be what, his fifth?

It will be Kevin "shot jacker" Durant.

KD because the Nets need him to play high minutes & carry that scoring load due to their lack of depth + with Kyrie only playing road games.

Come to think of it the odds of AD coming back and then getting injured again are not exactly low. Maybe LeBron wins this.

I'm going with Tre because I'm pretty sure KD is going to get hurt at some point this season

probably trae. kd drops off with kyrie back for road games and lebron drops with ad back. they're doing it now out of necessity.

Lebron is closing, he took 29 shots today. I feel like he wants that Kareem record, so he is going to keep scoring.

Yeah, if he cared about his team winning, he'd put more effort into their atrocious defense.

Yes, because a player in his 19th season is going to overcome the horrific defense of a couple of his other teammates, while carrying the scoring load, when he's on the floor. Makes sense.

MJ won the scoring title every season he won a ring. Doesn't matter if those weren't his highest scoring seasons, he's an outlier. As a matter of fact, only 3 people to win a scoring title and chip as "the man" were:

MJ - 6 times
Shaq - 2000
KAJ - 1971

This means MJ played a winning brand of ball while still being able to carry the GOAT tier load. That's what the real GOAT does.

Dingo doesn't win it with a contending team. His all-star help must be absent first in order for him to garner it.

Durant out 4-6 weeks.

Nike D'Antoni

I just read. To qualify for the scoring title Durant needs to play at least 58 games. He is at 36 games right now so he needs to play 22 out of the last 40 games.

It would be insane if 37-year-old Lebron wins the scoring title, between him & Giannis now.

Only 1 vote out of 28 for Embiid.

Nike D'Antoni
02-05-2022, 10:15 PM
Right now Embiid leads

Embiid 29.0
Giannis 28.9
Young 27.9

Both Lebron & Durant not qualified due to lack of games

Durant won't qualify for the scoring title, as the Nets have 15 games left. So max Durant can play is 55, three games less than 58 needed.

Two guys in the heat of the playoffs. One guy the 9th seed and didn't even play 65 games.

A 37 year-old in his 19th season going head to head with two 27 year-olds at their absolute peaks. You can't make this stuff up. :oldlol:
