Where would you rank him? Jones was a 18-20 ppg scorer during his prime, but one of the better defenders at the shooting guard position.

Kinda depends. If he plays with Lebron, he becomes a rich man's Pippen.
Without Lebron, he's a homeless man's JaeShawn Tate.

He's probably similar to Jimmy Butler in today's game, but better shooting abilities and more athleticism. Jones was a problem, even though his stats aren't amazing.

I would say more like Andrew Wiggins than Butler.

So Eddie Jones was better than Jimmy Butler is? I find that hard to believe.
For starters, Butler has what..maybe 40 pounds on him? He's built like a defensive end and utilizes his strength regularly. Not just with the glamor of finishing inside or whatever. But he uses his body in traffic to get rebounds, 50/50 balls, walling defenders off while keeping his eyes on the floor, etc.
And he's also just a really smart player in all facets. Seems to be in the right place at the right time more often than not. I made a post a couple weeks ago saying I'd take him over Luka and Harden right now and I stand by that.
Maybe I'm higher on him than most but dude plays the game the right way and really makes whatever team he's on way better. Was Jones like that? Perhaps but idk if it was to this level.

Modern day Devin Booker the same guy who broke Lebron.

Why not? Jones at his peak was a 20/5/5/3 player on 43/38/86 splits. This is at the height of the defensive era that was also extremely slow paced.
Here's another interesting thing to look at. Jones missed 10 games in the 2000 season, and then missed 19 games the following season. Here are the teams' records with and without him.
2000 CHA: w/Jones 47-25 (54 win pace) | w/o Jones 2-8 (19 win pace)
2001 MIA: w/Jones 40-23 (52 win pace) | w/o Jones 10-9 (43 win pace)
Jones' impact is underrated.

Not saying he was better than Butler. I agree with your sentiment and I'm probably taking Butler over Jones. What I'm saying is that Jones was similar. He could score, was a better shooter, and a great defensive player. His impact is often overlooked and he had to play second rate to guys like Shaq and Ceballos earlier in his career, then Kobe.

No way. Has Wiggins ever led a team to the playoffs? Wiggins rode the coattails of Butler and Towns that one year they made the playoffs, but that was it.

Nothing like some of those nifty reverses. Eddie worked at a Wal-Mart for a year when his pro days were done.

He's probably at pre All-NBA Jimmy Butler level. So Jimmy from '15 & '16.

I agree. Butler is capable of carrying a team's scoring at times, while Jones/Wiggins is more of an awesome support player to have. I don't think Jones could do the admirable job that Butler did in the 2020 Finals. And I'm quite an Eddie Jones fan - would have loved to see him on the 3 peat team with Shaq and Kobe.

When was Jones in the conversation for top 10 in the league like Butler is? I’ll wait.

Out of curiosity, what 2 guards would you put ahead of Jones defensively since he played? I'm assuming Tony Allen, anybody else?

This is a good point, but I never said Jones is > Butler. I said they're similar, but I'm probably taking Butler over him. I'm basing this on Jones' ability to score, shoot, defend, and have significant impact on his team.
This doesn't make him better than Butler, but they have some similarities. You're acting like this is some insult.
