View Full Version : What internet browser do you use?

Been using Firefox for a while but certain sites have become inaccessible for unknown reasons. Other browsers though access them fine so I'm thinking it's time to switch. Apparently a few years ago Chrome, Firefox, and Safari all had around 20% of the market share but Firefox's share has fallen to 4% and Chrome has become dominant with something like 65% of the market.

I consider Google and Microsoft as spyware producers though and would prefer to use a browser made by someone else. So not Chrome or Edge.

I guess that leaves

Opera
Vivaldi
Brave
Tor

Anything else?

What would you guys recommend?

A couple of days ago FireFox had a bug, which I think has been fixed, where sites were not loading, and it was using up a lot of CPU.

If you're still having that issue, type about:config into your address bar, and search for http3 and change network.http.http3.enable to False.

But first try to update the browser, since I think the issue has been fixed.

I think I saw that notice. Tried your suggestion and updated too but unfortunately my problem seems to be a separate issue. Thanks anyway.

Brave is awesome. AD blocker plus gives you free crypto.

Brave is interesting. My only concern is that the smaller user base may not be exposing possible problems with it. I miss an easy to use built-in screenshot tool that Firefox has although I guess there is one hidden among the developer tools but it is kind of clumsy to access.

Interesting. Can you further elaborate a little bit more? Are you using Windows? If so, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open up the Task Manager. What is the CPU usage for Firefox, and Power Usage? Does your computer have a fan, is it spinning harder than normal?

CPU usage fluctuates between 0-3% with only Firefox running. I presume that's not a problem.

My main issue is a PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR that Firefox has whenever I try to view a particular site. Tried numerous suggested fixes to no avail. I remember having to fix other issues with Firefox too and I am more diligent than other people. Upon reflection I'm not too surprised their share of the market has fallen so dramatically.

Netscape Navigator.

Was certainly the best back in 95.

Well, there's your problem; unsafe sites. Like Ben Franklin said, those who are willing to trade security for freedom, deserve neither.

Actually the site I'm trying to access that is causing problems should be a very safe site—unless of course you think financial institutions are unsafe.

Sad, probably the first web browser I ever used. But to be honest, they should have shut it down over a decade ago.

I used FireFox like around a decade ago, mainly because they had ad-blockers while Chrome at the time didn't. Once you had the option to install ad-blockers on Chrome, I switched.

I remember the owner on this site would always try to convince people to switch to Chrome instead of FireFox because his ads on this site were getting blocked. :lol

So what's the appeal Chrome over Firefox? Google owning even more of your life and information?
