View Full Version : It's kind of crazy how rebounding PFs seemingly became redundant overnight

Types of players like Reggie Evans, Kris Humphries, JJ Hickson, Kenneth Faried, Dejuan Blair, Amir Johnson, Tristan Thompson.

Power forwards who couldn't shoot, but were big, physical, and had a high motor that allowed them to get rebounds. It's almost as if these guys disappeared overnight; Golden State happened and the rest is history.

If they didn't have the size to play the 5, they became a liability. Faried was still a productive and efficient scorer when he last played, but he's too small to play the 5. Can't shoot, can't protect the rim.

Amir Johnson was a PF for most of his career. Played C to finish it.

We live in an era where teams would rather have Steve Novak at the 4. A decade ago this wouldn't be the case.

PFs are basically the big 3s now.

Good call

He's in an ideal situation playing alongside KAT. It's his defense that's allowed him to shine. I haven't watched too much of him, but he seems to be a good help defender?
