You can make a reasonable case for it.

Gonna have to go with LeKing Hung here, with Joker comfortably holding the #2 spot.

He was the sidekick for that playoff run. Murray doubled his points in that game 7, murray led the playoffs in scoring, murray led the playoffs in assists, murray led the playoffs in win shares and so on and so on.

All that and he still had just 1 conference finals win to show for it, pathetic.

So once Jokic shows a true alpha playoff run we can talk.

jokic has never even done anything close to 2019 kawhi playoffs. He's a fatass who played sidekick to murray and still lost 1-4 in the WCF

How do you even judge someone like Jokic? And as the Kawhit stan mentioned, he hasn't won anything. I swear winning is part of most ish poster's criteria until they hypocritically throw it out the window being victims of the moment.

Jokic is great, I want to put him above overrated Giannis given his natural feel for the game as opposed to ramming into the key and drawing fouls, but he really isn't clearly better than the best guys in the league. The whole argument is stupid anyway.

LeBron is averaging more points than Jokic and Embiid at 37 years old

of course he isnt "clearly" better than the other best. no one is.

and stop ramblng about other peoples criteria.

the bitw has never been defined by "winning".

offensively for sure.

with a healthy Murray they'd be a top 3 seed

His career best playoff game is when he scored 16 points in the 2nd round. Not enough sample size there

Vast majority of the time this question gets answered in the playoffs, not January.

I love Jokic, he is one of my favorite players but the last playoffs wasn't nice for him. I know they were devestated by injuries but they get swept and CP3 had a historic series by spamming pick and roll against Jokic. He needs to do better than that. But so far in the regular season this year he has been the best.

but what about now?

And what are you expecting from Joker? What will your reaction be when he balls out but loses because his cast is signifcantly worse than whoever he will come up against

So peak Kawhit lost a 3-1 lead to a fatass and a player that had a lightning in a moment bubble playoff run but that's never made the all-star team or all-nba. Cool.

Jokic isn’t even the best center atm.

I'd have absolutely no issue with anyone claiming Jokic as the BITW, and I'd say he's had the best season so far. But imo it's still very close between the likes of him, Giannis, KD, Embiid, Curry if he ever breaks out of this slump, and hell, even Kawhi if he comes back and plays like his regular self. With LeBron still elite but not quite what he was, this is honestly the strongest competition I've seen for BITW since the mid 2000's.

I've never held a "win a rang and you da bess" mentality, so if Jokic keeps up this level of play I'm not gonna dock him if his team loses in the first or second round. But if any of the aforementioned players have insane playoff runs too, it's gonna be very difficult to ascertain who's truly the best.

So yeah, if forced to pick now, I guess I'd go with Jokic. But it's so close between a handful of players, I've gotta see how these guys perform in the playoffs to break the deadlock.

Curry, Durant and Jokic are at the top. If Kawhi is healthy him too. I don't think anybody could do what Jokic has done with the nuggets though. Imagine if they actually paired him with a star like Paul George, AD, or Harden and Kyrie. Would be romping to titles.
