Btw, Hakeem was playing a 1st option role, so were there any SIDEKICKS that outplayed MVP's head-to-head?
How about just in general (doesn't have to be head-to-head)? Did any sidekicks outplay league MVP's or FMVP's in a playoff series?

* Bosh outplayed MVP Rose in the 2011 ECF
* Kyrie outplayed MVP Curry in 2016 Finals
* AD outplayed MVP Jokic in the 2020 WCF
* Wade outplayed FMVP Dirk in 2011 Finals
Wow RR3 you never cease to amaze... Thanks for that list..
So only Lebron had "Hakeem" as sidekicks that outplay league MVP's (the most help possible)

kobe nearly swept 2002 mvp Duncan as his teams leading scorer.
also beat 2004 wolves with mvp garnett as his teams leading scorer
if lebron didn't get spanked by Howard in 2009 he would have one more victim
also if the Lakers coulda grabbed 1 rebound in 2006 vs Phoenix
oh yeah and if horry hits one three kobe beats mvp Duncan 2 straight years

Oh shit that's true - we all remember Lebron losing 3 fourth quarter leads in the 09' ECF and getting completely dominated by Dwight in the critical Game 4 OT that swung the series - Dwight was 6-6 or something and Lebron was 3-9 with turnovers.

Bill Walton swept Kareem in 1977...then beat Dr J in the finals.

Bill didn't outplay Kareem or Dr. J, whereas Hakeem destroyed Robinson and made him underperform, while Kyrie did the same thing to Curry.. Those are the only 2 examples that I can think of where a player destroyed his MVP matchup over the course of a playoff series.

yeah but the other teams 3 through 12 were 15 times better than the Lakers 3 through 12. which is why the Lakers struggled in 2003 and 2004

Bosh outplayed MVP Rose in the 2011 ECF
That's actually funny because Bron is the sole reason Rose's numbers are worse than Bosh's
"After going 0-for-5 from the floor with a turnover when guarded by LeBron James in Game 4, Derrick Rose struggled against him once again Thursday, going 1-for-10 with two turnovers in Game 5. Rose shot 6.3 percent from the floor in the series when defended by James, lowest among any player that defended him on five or more plays."
Locks down 1 to 5
