Smart call by Breyer. I hope Biden nominates someone in their 40s.

McConnell had already said that if Republicans got senate majority again, they would not allow Biden to replace them. If something happened to Breyer, we couldn't go a couple years without a replacement. Republicans play shenanigans like that every chance they get so should democrats. Biden needs to expand the supreme court. Breyer's replacement and add 2 more liberal judges while you still have senate majority.

So if things don't go your way, you change the rules? You know how stupid you sound?

Yes. Republicans do it over and over again with open celebration from sheep like you. Democrats might as well do the same.

What rules did the republicans change, harry reid

"You can't nominate a supreme Court justice during lame-duck term president." -Mitchy boy in 2016.

Mitchy boy laughs and quickly rushes in Ginsburg replacement vote a week before the 2020 election. That's not technically a rule change but rather a precedent reversal when it suited them politically.

Republicans have also changed the rules to lower the number of votes required for Supreme Court nomination.

No rules were changed in 2016. Gop held majority. No one was going to pass. Not a rule change

2020. Not a rule change

That was more of a harry reid move

In 2016, Republicans majority changed rule so you need only 51 votes in senate to nominate Supreme Court Justice. It used to be 6X senators. Look it up. I might be off on the exact year.

Edit: here you go https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/10/01/fact-check-gop-ended-senate-filibuster-supreme-court-nominees/3573369001/

Republicans were refusing to pass any of Obama's nominees so Reid brought down the majority rule to 51 from 60 for presidential nominees and district judges. They kept supreme court justices to 60 then in 2017, republicans changed votes needed for supreme court Justices to 51 so Trump can put whoever he wants in the supreme court.

People forget that before Obama was even sworn into office in January 2009, Republicans were on the record that they would pass nothing Obama supported. They vowed the same in 2013 for his 2nd term but democrats had majority then. This was all before democrats did something similar under Trump.

It was the right move for passing through nominees. Republicans were being babies. They wouldn't even hear out Obama's nominees and vowed not to at the very moment he was voted in November 2008. Bunch of whiny little babies who were freaking out that a black man had become president and they had to serve under a black man.

I think I'm okay with Republicans changing the rules to make them same for Supreme Court Justices too. Might as well do it for all nominees going through the senate.

Why is everything with you about race? Nobody cares that Obama is Black. Nobody. Quit thinking in terms of race 24/7. Only racist people think of race 24/7. Idiot.

Ask Republicans why they vowed to resist everything Obama did months before he even took office in January 2009. Republicans continued that vow to the day Obama left office. Then you wonder why democrats behaved the way they did with Trump. For 8yrs, Republicans were being whiny little babies.

Did Republicans impeach Obama twice? I didn't think so. You may want to think who the real babies are.

There is absolutely no reason for the Republicans to vow before Obama even took office that they would resist and turn down everything across the board. He had not even nominated anyone or even had been sworn in. Republicans were bitter that they got their asses handed to them in 08 and couldn't handle the fact that their president was black. Fact.

It's also a fact that you are a clown who is unable to handle the truth. You are allergic to facts.

Then what was the reason for Democrats to vow before Trump took office that they would resist and turn down everything across the board? You see, clown, not everything is about race. You obsess over it because it's the only card you have left and once the low-IQ sheep that you appeal to start to wisen up, they'll realize that you only decry racism for the attention and for the protection of having to debate someone. Your dumbass is literally telling us that an entire Party is racist. You know how stupid you sound right now??

These Democrats think we're stupid. Nominate a Black candidate, have the Republican Senators block her or vigorously grill her on Capitol Hill, then go on the media and say that the only reason Republican Senators are blocking this selection or questioning it, is because she's Black.

Same ****ing M.O. time and time again.
