View Full Version : If you're the Nets, do you give Harden the 4/227 extension?

At the end of this year, Harden will be eligible for a 4 year 227 million extension. That would amount to paying a 37 year old Harden 62 million at the age of 37.
If he was in his prime this would be a no-brainer, however he's taken a noticeable step back this year whether it be from injuries, rust, poor roster construction, or possibly just a lack of effort.

He already turned down an extension last offseason. I don't think he wants to play with Irving. Fits better next to a big man like embiid i guess. The nets are done this season, Irving can't play at home and harden isn't focused.

Thing is he turned down a 3/161 extension but would qualify for a 4/227 extension after this season. Could be because he doesn’t wanna play with Kyrie but could also just be for the money.
Thing is the Nets almost certainly have to offer him the contract, else he might just dip cause he feels insulted; and they can’t rly afford that with how many picks they gave up to get him.

Yes. They have never been this close to an NBA title and may never be again. The league is printing money. Don't risk counting too heavily on Irving. Keep Harden even though only one or two of those years may be good. Durant will need the help.
