Sitting on the bench too much has caused him back issues.

The good news is that this is an easy fix. Vogel just needs to play him more.

I have a feeling the Westbrook/Vogel stuff is about to get worse. It's going to escalate to the point that Lakers will have to fire Vogel as the last option. You can't just repair a relationship.
I don't expect the next coach in line, Fizdale, to be an improvement. But perhaps he will be able to take Westbrook aside and try to convince him to try to buy in. I don't want to make this about race & I have been very careful not to go there, but perhaps Westbrook will listen to someone who happens to be black due to the cultural difference. We have seen comments from players like CP3 and others over the years that they prefer a black coach so maybe that's more thought of by players than we realize from the outside (someone messed up like Farrakhan is highly esteemed by many more players than we realize). A black coach unleashing fury on a black player may be taken very differently from that player than a white coach unleashing fury on that same black player. It is what it is. :confusedshrug:

Vogel can easily be fired just for being a bad coach too.
But I disagree, Fizdale is not a head coach. He's not a motivator. That's what the Lakers need. Someone to motivate guys to play harder defense, talk to teammates and call out the coverages, make the extra pass, hard dives to the basket after strong picks, stay moving on offense, etc.
The Lakers have enough talent to be much better. Maybe not a contender but easily above .500.

I had issues with Vogel's rotations. Dwight needs to be playing 15mpg. THT should not be finishing games. I have seen Melo getting minutes when he is being useless out there - when his 3s are not dropping, he is useless.
Lakers need to play more in the halfcourt to get higher percentage shots & limit turnovers. We can also do more pick & rolls, which we have the right personnel for. We don't play smart basketball. Part of that blame is on Vogel. He is not a good offensive mind. And somehow our 2nd in rank (Fizdale) is also a crap offensive mind. Jason Kidd was much better in that role.
