Seriously, why does Anthony Davis get injured so often?

Style of play?

Relying too much on daring leaps and risky jumps at tough angles?

Or what?

Or is it just bad luck.

A little bit of all of those things IMO.

Of all of those, I think it's the second. He does a poor job of establishing a good lower body base in general, and his landing mechanics are poor. Invariably every game you'll see him crumple to the floor 4-5 times, off of a shot, a rebound attempt, etc. Someone his size has no business falling to the court 4-5 times a game. Same goes for Joel Embiid, he has this same tendency to fall a lot. The floor is an immovable object that's not going to give any.

He lands on one foot far too often. When a guy of his size with a lot of athleticism jumps high, that's a lot of force that has to get transferred somewhere. When he lands on one foot at an awkward angle, that energy has to go somewhere, so it's not a matter of if he'll get hurt, but when.

He just doesn't play "big," he plays like someone 8 inches shorter that has to scrap and fly all over the place to have an impact. But smaller guys can withstand falls better because they don't generate as much force as bigger guys. Joints, bones don't strengthen proportionally in size as the person puts on weight. He needs to work on footwork and how to maneuver his body in space. Wouldn't hurt to lose weight either.

254 pounds is too much for him. AD was at his best around 230-240
