The NBA states that an owner, executive, coach, player or any member of the organization cannot speak to a player signed by another franchise in the hopes of persuading him to join their team.
Is this rule really necessary? I'd like to see this rule removed.

Well, it's pretty clear that if you're a star you can flout that rule with no repercussions.

yes. it's a dumb rule rooted with insecurity. if your star player leaves you, he was gonna leave you regardless of the rule. it's like telling your girl she can't talk to other men. drop that bitch as soon as you notice she's for the streets.

you may as well get rid of the whole draft/lottery pick idea about teams who underperform gets to have the high pick in order to maintain competitiveness
instead, have the draft picks simply be open bid.
does the rich gets richer, or does the dumb gets dumber

So stupid.
This lead to Wade being the middle man between Lebron/Bosh and Pat Riley so he knew to throw away decent players and contracts for expiring contracts based solely on knowing he would get both guys. And without this, Lebron goes to Miami without Bosh or has to pick another franchise altogether because they lacked the cap space. This wasn't just a player leaving and seeing what was available... this was a player who colluded to stack the deck in advance to make sure the location he wanted would be open and he would get to play with all stars from 2 different teams in advance
Lebron is a bitch.
At least Kevin Durant only ended up on an organically built team Warriors team by chance. He didn't know the NBA was going to raise the cap while planning to sign with the Warriors. Destiny aligned for Warriors and Duant. Lebron on the other hand rigged the system like a coward bitch.
still can't get over Kawhi's ring with the Toronto Raptors after leaving the Spurs huh

Probably.
It looks unecessary now, but, if the rule wouldn't exist...
you just know if a star player would be unhappy somewhere, or rumours would start..
all of a sudden players would say shit in on-court interviews like "I need _ to join us haha! Get that man some help"...
they would be clowning.
It would look bad.

the question is what is free agency for ??
People could sway other players to play on another team and force trades all day every day until there would never be some form of parity.
We might as well have 3 teams NY,LA,Chcago and that's that.

It’s a useless rule now everyone can subtweet or say anything on social media. LeCollude already ruined the league with open rigging. So NBA needs to go full WWE at this point. Let players form alliances and factions in which they will inevitably backstab. Let them have open feuds with GMs and head coaches. Teams should have entrance music themes and cut promos before games. NBA titles should be on the line on any given night. Also when two teams are playing, a third team should be able to run onto the court and sabotage their rival. Imagine it’s lakers vs bucks and it’s a close game. All of the sudden Brooklyn nets entrance music cuts in and KD runs onto the court to distract the ref while kyrie clothesline’s lebron and hands the ball to Giannis for the game winning shot. That would set up drama for a match between lakers and nets

lemme get a burner phone, text a GM from another team on whatsapp.
untraceable. whatsapp uses end to end encryption, unless you have FBI doing deep forensical analysis, they ain't getting caught. technology available to pretty much anyone.
why does the rule exist again?
