the spike in points per possession is probably due to other players being drafted to fight WW3

Only caveat is most of those guys faced better opposing centers than Joel does, still impressive though. I think he'd hold his own somewhere in the middle of the pack.

I would take Olajuwon, Shaq, Kareem, Moses, and David Robinson over him for sure. In a vacuum, I would take Embiid over Ewing if he's healthy, but he's never been able to play anything close to a full season, whereas Ewing played almost 10 full seasons straight with hardly missing any games. Embiid is obviously more versatile on the offensive side, but Ewing is pretty solidly the better defender. It's close, but the difference in availability favors Ewing by quite a margin, so him in the real world.

Embiid gets locked up by Horford in the playoffs. Do Ewing Robinson or Shaq struggle against Horford?

I mean yeah, interesting stat, but would that also mean David Robinson is 2nd best on the list and Kareem is worst?

Embiid gets locked up by Horford in the playoffs. Do Ewing Robinson or Shaq struggle against Horford?Ewing has historically been an underwhelming playoff performer, but Shaq certainly dominates Horford.

Also it's easier to score but yeah Embiid is doing well...he's on his way to the top twenty(at his position) after this season ring or no.

Embiid’s a Shaq/Hakeem hybrid so he’s probably the greatest raw shot creator at Center ever.

Some of the fluidity of Hakeem, some of the raw power game of Shaq. Modern skill level so he plays damn near like Dirk or KD at times.

Maybe other than Nikola Jokic.

Embiid is as good as a raw scorer as any center ever basically. Kareem, Jokic, Shaq, Embiid, Wilt? Would be my top 5.

Or probably Hakeem over Wilt and possibly over Jokic but I doubt it cause Jokic is just nasty in a GOAT-ish way.

But I probably can’t justify Hakeem > Embiid as a raw scorer.

Embiid has clear weak spots on defense and motor so still inferior to Hakeem in a clearish way this year. Last year when he was really busting ass on D? Close IMO. But this year Embiid is pretty overrated overall.

Crazy era.

Now that Harden, Davis and Curry are slowing down it’s not as insane of an era as it was but it’s still nuts. Especially as far as bigs go.

All this is to say, Jokic blows Embiid away this season. Had to throw that in there because Embiid is quickly becoming a pop pick as BITW and best big, MVP, etc. literally by far worse than Jokic on offense and defense.

Embiid needs 4 more years of elite play to bein top 7
10 centers. He's more talented than mourning Ewing etc..

Yes, this is one of those cases of recency bias.

Embiid just isn't that good and gets most of his points on free throws.

It's a toss up with Ewing, but only because Ewing got injured.

Embiid is better offensively than Ewing by a good margin, but way worse on defense.

Then there's of course Wilt and Russel, so maybe Embiid can get into the top 10 of centers all time.

Top 10 is possible but he has to basically destroy Jokic and Gobert and become the defining Center of this era. His lack of health and need to win rings/MVP's so for me he definitely not surpassing these guys...

Tier 1
Wilt - most unbreakable records in NBA history
KAJ - MVP leader and Points leader
Russell - 11 rings in 14 seasons
Mikan - 10 Seasons 8 Finals Appearances 7 championships and established the league
Moses - 3 Time MVP..23 Seasons top 10 scoring, and rebounding
Hakeem - 3 Finals appearences, MVP, FMVP, 2 time Champion
Shaq - 4 time champion, MVP generation defining player

As long as he doesn't fall off a cliff he should end up here...
Robinson, Ewing, Reed, McAdoo, Thurmond, Walton, Unseld, Schayes, Daniels

But right now he's here. I think he's made the HOF line now
Mutombo, Howard, Jokic, Parish, Cowens, Gilmore, Lanier, Sampson

He's better then Tim Duncan I think, just doesnt have the stacked supporting casts. Much better shooter and scorer then Duncan while still being elite defensively.

How do you think Embid would fare against a prime Cousins?

Okay, so we adjusting for the inflated stats of this era?

Or nah?

And centres kinda do a lot more than score....so.it doesn't tell the whole picture...it really tells us nothing what so ever lol

He's right though, Embiid has been average on defense this year whilst Jokic has been elite
