A guy that’s neither all star material, nor “how are we starting this guy” material.
For some reason whenever I hear Jusuf Nurkic’s name, thats exactly what I think of.
I havent watched him a ton so I dont know how accurate the perception is, but when I have I just feel he’s the definition of an average starter. Which isnt bad necessarily, better than being below average. But I dunno, thats just always the guy I think of.
Who’s that guy for YOU, big boys?

OG Anunoby, Maxi Kleber, Steven Adams, Aaron Gordon and Danny Green. They are all nice players but just nice.

Good choices so far.
I would also add: Anthony Davis, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving. If we go back a few years probably guys like Chris Bosh, Zydrunas Ilgauskus, and late-career Dwayne Wade would also fit the bill.

Steven Adams is a good one.
Gordon is too nice.
Danny Green nearly won a FMVP and was a sniper that any championship team wanted at one point.

Starter or player?
Starter has a significantly higher ceiling since they are above average player in the first place. I'd say someone like Harrison Barnes is an average NBA starter.
An average NBA player would be someone like KCP.

When u think of these guys, u thought league starter FOR SURE! Guys who were actually ABOVE AVERAGE in areas like defense and rebounding. But ALSO GUYS who were never truly close to making an All Star game. In other words, these guys NEVER making the All Star game was never seen as a snub. Or oversight. Guys like a Byron Scott or Rod Strickland on the other hand NEVER made an All Star game. But they were seen as guys who should have made at least a couple of All Star Games at some point.

Barnes was a 16+ ppg scorer in 7 seasons. Not exactly average even for a starter.

I'd say 16 ppg is about average for a starter.

This is a really good question. Baseball got this stat WAR. Tells you a number of wins above replacement level player. Everyone seems to have their own definition of replacement level player though.
I like haterad's answer... luke kennard. A lot of those clippers players feel average... Mann, Zubac, Reggie Jackson Like they're at the mean. They can be replaced most easily.

starter minutes have been fluctuating, without doing the math let's say 26-29 minutes with a 0 BPM
lower minutes with higher BPM has been about roster rotation and/or fit, skill, experience
there's most likely a precise minutes per game that can be used to normalize pace/per 100 stats the same way FG% normalize
