I know a certain group of people on here get triggered by Enes Freedom, but this is a guy who speaks the truth and is willing to stand up for what's right even when it cost him his career.

I doubt he'll end up winning the Nobel Peace Prize since China will find a way to make sure he doesn't, but much respect to him anyway.

I'm not certain, but I'm guessing he's the first NBA player to ever get this nomination.

It didn't cost him his career, he was on his way out. He's saying this stuff because he's part of a pan-Turkic movement that wants to unite Turkish speaking people from Turkey to China. They've been used by the CIA for anti-communist ops for decades. The "Uyghur Genocide" narrative was pushed entirely by people with connections to US intelligence, and they had to back off their claims because they didn't have significant evidence.

You can tell he's full of shit, because he's Pro-Israel. If you really were worried about Muslims being oppressed by authoritarian governments, why wouldn't he say a word about Palestinians? There is a mountain of evidence in that case. In fact, why won't anyone in the NBA say anything at all about Israel?

If you can't talk about Fethullah Gülen, the East Turkistan Government In-Exile, and the National Endowment for Democracy, you are not equipped for this.

You are ridiculously misinformed.

Or just an anti-Israel propagandist.

There's overwhelming evidence of China's atrocities against the Uyghurs. If you can't find it then you're either dumb or blatantly biased.

Palestinians are trying to get INTO Israel and live alongside they Jews. Around 100k Palestinian applications for Israeli residency a year. The ones that live inside Israel aren't trying to leave. What kind of people are trying to be oppressed and what kind of people who are oppressed don't leave when there's an open door out?

Either you think Palestinians are the biggest morons in existence or you're a complete dolt. My guess is the latter.

They're trying to get out of an open air prison of Israel's creation you dumbass.

Apply your logic to Xinjiang. Wouldn't refugees be trying to escape to neighboring Tajikistan, which is full of people that speak their language and practice their religion....but they aren't. Tajikistan even signed on to China's UN resolution countering the US accusations. You're full of shit on your little sock puppet account. FoH

And that's just a teeny, tiny sampling. One of those sources is even the Israel-hating, Commie-loving CNN.

But you're going to just keep on believing your Chinese-run conspiracy theory sources.

What do you think is happening in China?

Can we agree on the press having no freedom and locking up journalists?

He's denying the Uighur oppression. I doubt he'll even agree on that.

He's denying the Uighur oppression. I doubt he'll even agree on that.

I'm denying allegations of state-sponsored genocide. I'm not saying the CCP has been overwhelmingly kind to this group of people. I'm not Chinese, I'm American. I'm more worried about oppression in my own nation. How do you think the US government would respond to 25 years of religiously motivated terrorist attacks in a state? English language media almost never mentions the recent history of Xinjiang.

Also, I looked up the stats, and allegedly China has 60 journalist in jail (NYT (https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/09/world/americas/jailed-journalists-worldwide.html))

In that very article it said that 56 journalists in the US were arrested and detained in the US that year.
Activists and protestors in the US have mysterious "suicides". The same folks that are telling you about how bad China is (The US State Department and CIA) killed journalist Gary Webb (two shots to the head "suicide" while working on a story) and others like him. Heck, the government let Chevron put an opposing lawyer under house arrest for 2 years because they lost a case against him in Ecuador.

Instead of throwing journalists in jail, we just make sure that nobody makes it to the highest level of journalism unless they support the military-industrial regime that owns the politicians. Every single panel on every single news network has someone connected to US intelligence on it. It would be more honest to just throw people in jail. In our system, we have big news networks "reporting" on the same white papers released by "independent" NGOs that are cut-outs for intelligence agencies (groups like National Endowment for Democracy, and the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation).

The pinnacle of our "Free Press" is the New York Times, which uncritically reports whatever nonsense the CIA wants them to when it comes for foreign affairs.

In Short:

1. China is not my problem
2. The US State Department lies
3. The people that "care" a lot about the Uyghurs don't actually give a **** about human rights in their own countries, or in their allied nations (like Israel)

The in-short is sidetracking a lot...

you give no actual opinion about China or make an assumption that doesn't apply, to me, for one.

I totally agree on the US.

He's got a valid point. The Celtics are indeed hypocrites. I guess the NBA market in Russia is a lot smaller than China, huh.
