View Full Version : According to bron stan logic kareem is the goat

They always use the argument that bron is better than mj because bron is better at more things. This is debatable because mj was better at scoring and defense and bron was better at passing and rebounding. For argument sake even if it were true this logic backfires when comparing bron and kareem. Kareem was better at everything other than passing. He was a better scorer, rebounder and defender. So no matter how you look at it bron isn't the goat :confusedshrug:

The argument that "Lebron does more things well" falls apart because that logic applies to many of the 28/8/8 players in today's era like Luka, Harden, Westbrook, and more.
For the purposes of comparing players, scoring is a lot more important than defensive rebounds (positional stat) and assists (team strategy to let 1 guy dominate the ball).. These are role player categories compared to the "star" category that carries the scoreboard and commands the big bucks - scoring.. These guys aren't better passers - scoring is simply more important - Jordan could average 10 assists whenever he wanted but the team needed his scoring and capacity for ball movement more than ball-dominance or one guy getting a lot of assists.
The larger point is that Jordan's ability to score far greater amounts with far less ball-dominance resulted in more team assists than Lebron, Luka or Harden (who field low-assist teams) - Jordan got his 30 while the ball moves (no ball-dominance), while their skillset is restricted to ball-dominance.. Their teams must employ a low-team-assist brand for them to get 30, which results in teammates reduced to spot-up shooter and lower team ceilings/Finals records.
Finally, people drastically underestimate Jordan's scoring edge - all the great playoff scorers in history are bunched up at 27-29 ppg, while MJ stands alone at 33.5 with lowest turnovers and better efficiency per possession (ortg) than anyone that matters.. MJ has dozens of series wins with 37 ppg or more (high 30's or 40's) because his scoring was optimal and fundamentally-sound, complete with elite jumpshooting skill - teammates grew by leaps and bounds alongside him because his high scoring was partially-assisted (off-ball), so teammates were elevated to playmaker role and could develop.. Otoh, Lebron's high scoring is ball-dominant and imposes spot-up roles that stall young players, thereby needing ready-made stars to win (team-hop).
Ultimately, Jordan scored 6 more points per 100 possessions than anyone in playoff history, with better efficiency on those possessions (ortg) than anyone that matters - this massive scoring edge was magnified by the most OPTIMAL scoring capability that grew teammates and allowed a high-team-assist brand without ball-dominance (coach's dream).. His goat clutch and 2-way capability further enhanced his goat scoring and resulted in the highest team ceilings (6/6 Finals record) with the least help (no super-teams or 1b's).

I'll say this...the only man to lead the league in rebounding, assists, and scoring is also the fastest man to 30K and that was Wilt Chamberlain

Only one guy had goat scoring diversity that yielded the best teammate fits and allowed coaches to employ the best strategy, which yielded the highest team ceilings/Finals records (6/6) with the least help (no super-teams or 1b's)

The problem with the thread title though
Is that Bronie stans' brains just don't have a logic function.

And according to Jordan Stan logic, Russell is the goat, according to Kobe stans Wilt is probably the goat and so on. Everyone's bias gets exposed the further down their goat list they travel, prove me wrong.

Even if it was true.
The GOAT would still be determined by the majority. Which LBJ isn't.

Goat doesn't appear to something that can be " determined " when it's evolved into a long running public discussion anyhow.

Yes it can. Same as who gets to be president. You don't have to get 100% of the votes or follow the same criteria.

There's no official vote, nor a steady set of criteria it's possible for (you) to have your goat but you may base it on something I deem idiotic so we'd never agree. Or in my personal case I'd ask for more of your list and eventually proceed to poke holes in it once your logic fails. Goat Is just an ill informed opinion for the lazy type of fans we have here.

Exactly. Even in this Kareem vs Lebron debate. The people that are picking Lebron will circle their wagons around context when it comes to Kareems career. Seeing as how stats don't land on their side. They're doing it in the Lebron/Kareem thread.

I agree, that's why I said ask someone for more of their list and Watch it collapse on itself eventually.

Proves my point even more. It shows that it doesn't have to be perfect logic, it just has to be.

Wrong. Rings are only part of the equation.
It's stats, rings, and accolades.
Havlicek doesn't have GOAT stats or the MVP's.
Cool story tho' bro

And LeBron is the best at two of these. :applause: He doesn't have the most rings, but nobody who has noteworthy stats and accolades is close to matching Bill Russell in this category either.

Right but who's the closest in all three categories? Mj is ahead of both bron and Russell when looking at all three. Kareem has an argument however.
